I can kinda see why you may feel like you couldn’t listen to a whole album of just DY. I sometimes feel that way but I think it may be cuz DY does tend choose songs that lean heavily to rich part of his voice. He loves to cover Taeyeon/IU. Id love to know what you think of DY’s covers of Ariana Grande’s Breathin and Billie Ellish ( especially “idontwannabeyouanymore” and Lovely)

Doyoung was actually in a musical called Marie Antoinette. DY does tend to be an emotive singer in a concert performance of 127 No Longer he seems to be struggling through one part because his emotions was affecting his breathe control or something

I can definitely listen to a full album of Dy only, I love his voice. Like I have soldiered through 'favorite' for the vocals (and through many other Nct songs). lol Just not a huge fan of ballads so that would be the only thing stopping me because he loves a ballad. When it's his turn for a solo album, I hope someone can convince him to do something a little different.

Ugh god I keep messing up my comment lol - 3rd try: Can I just say, I've been a loyal Taemin fan since 2012 and he'll always soar above everyone in kpop for me but Doyoung has really been ruining my Iife these past months. Doyoung was not this good at singing even just last year, I dunno what he did but damn the improvement in incredible. He's always been a good singer, but this is the best I've heard him sound ever. I usually ignore ballads but I love the way Doyoung sings them - in his first song he starts off high and light, and by the time the 2nd verse hits when he put more idk, weight into it, I had goosebumps all over. Doyoung also used to hold hours long karaoke/concert sessions on vlive just jamming and singing fans' requests raw - he has such a wide range and varied taste in music, but that's not a weakness. If anything, Doyoung can literally do anything but I'm happy he's leaning more into his sensual side these days because it really suits him. Overall his biggest challenge would be solidifying the sound he wants to define himself with and going from there.

Whoa, sorry to jump on your comment, but I literally became a SHINee fan in 2011/2012 (Taemin biased) and I am basically a Dy solo stan at this point. Lol So I saw your comment and was like same! I almost never find anyone similar since most who stan Taemin gravitate towards other main dancers.

omg you literally spoke my words haha Everytime you praised him here and in the past I've been thinking that even though yes I can hear how technically proficient he is and I like a lot of parts in his voice there's just something... missing? Or rather there's just a little too much. Like I love musical theatre and singers being able to have so much resonance but when I keep hearing it so often in his singing it does put me off a bit. Totally agree with having him in a group rather than solo. Although would love to hear him sing in a musical!

You asked if he's done musical theatre and yes he has, he debuted in mmusical acting by acting in Marie Antoinette which is the Korean adaptation of the namesake Japanese musical.

As someone who’s ult bias is Doyoung I actually don’t think his solo album would be slow songs. He has talked often about wanting to make rock music and lean towards that sound. I think his tone would be incredible no matter what direction he takes musically. The control he has in his voice allows him to be very playful in songs and really do whatever he wants with his voice. 🥰

It’s always interesting hearing other people’s thoughts on certain musicians. For me…Doyoung has my favorite voice in all of kpop. I have been a kpop fan since 2008…and no one’s voice makes me feel more than Doyoung. I simply can’t get enough. I am also a Musical Theatre nerd and a 2nd/3rd gen stan so his voice is just so perfect to me. I love how much control he has over the way he wants his voice to sound. ♥️
