It's nice enough overall though nothing that blew me away or surprised me which feels very SM atm BUT I hope they get another comeback because they DO work as a unit once you get used to it!

Omg that's probably literally why I find myself enjoying the post-chorus of Kiss compared to the actual chorus cause I can hear their voices and it's not totally drowned out 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

Have you ever thought about reacting with some good quality headphones? I always notice you pointing out parts in the production that sound otherwise perfectly fine to me and I have a background in music producing. I noticed something similar when you reacted to Left Right by XG for the first time. I thought the vocal arrangements, melodies and production on that track were stellar. Headphones elevate the sound experience and I genuinely think your first impressions are always getting stifled because the audio output of the speaker on your laptop is not doing justice to the actual production. That’s not to say SM is some perfect company but I think NCT’s music has been of an extremely high quality in recent years andI can distinguish that improvement from their older music. I personally thought the album was fantastic! I’ve noticed that most music sounds terrible to me now when I don’t play it through my headphones, because I am so accustomed to them. Just something to possibly consider as I reckon it could curb your first impressions a bit. Either way, loved the video and am a new patron here! Looking forward to sifting through some videos to watch while I’m COVID sick! Lots of love from New Zealand! 😊

Ohhh no hope you recover soon. My speaker is actually a wonder boom so it’s got great dynamics and bass etc but the biggest hurdle is the screen recording doesn’t record sound if Bluetooth earphones are connected since I don’t have wired ones. I might try again in the future though but mostly how I feel about songs from my speaker I feel once I listen with earphones. This happened with Kai’s Rover album and GOT the beat. But when I love an album track out loud I still love it with earphones like TWICE moonlight, Taemin if could tell you and even Perfume tbh. Though audio quality plays a part I’d say it’s about 5-10% of my overall rating. The chord movements, musical production choices and vocal hooks/melodies and ad libs are 80% for me. Lyrics the rest lol

would love to still see you react to the performance for Perfume its so good :') but yeah overall i def had a similar reaction the songs were good but they didnt truly wow me which is surprising given the trio~~ but i still really enjoyed the album. Perfume is super catchy literally cant stop listening to it and watching their performance and can we go back is definitely my next fav. Cant wait to see more of them :')

Okay glad I’m not the only one who felt that way about Ordinary. It went nowhere and I think they could’ve chosen such a better ballad that complimented their voices better! I am really loving Perfume and Dive on the flip side. I also feel like Kiss is very Shinee-eque which I enjoyed 😊

Fav songs on there are definitely perfume, can we go back and dive. I think when it comes to NCT, I used to always want to be blown away beyond because they have given us so much like sticker and kick it, but I honestly really like this album. It stayed cohesive, it’s foundation is strong and I enjoy the flow. The only song I didn’t really like was ordinary, I agree with you with the points about the ballad.

I enjoyed this release overall. Ordinary and strawberry Sunday are skippable tracks for me though. In this unit Jungwoo seems like the odd one out in my opinion. I felt the same when I saw the Christmas medley and when I saw the can we go back stage at the concert. I always thought why him? No shade to Jungwoo - the man is talented - but even with more lines in this unit he's overshadowed. It may be because Doyoung and Jaehyun has more exposure in NCT overall so they feel stronger to me or maybe I just prefer their voices over his. It's probably just me. Anyway I hope we get a recording behind so I can see more. Maybe I'll stand corrected.

SUCH an underwhelming ballad? I'm sorry but listening to the Boyz's bsides has SHOWN me the potential of what boy groups can do harmonically as well as vocal layering that's amazing. Spring snow, Butterfly & Goodbye are GREAT examples.

Just to give you feedback I’ve been listening to it with my high quality earphones and I’m even more disappointed lol. I dunno what’s happening with SM but since the SMTOWN album it’s like they cap the volume at 85%, it’s really annoying. Perfume is the only song I actually enjoy to relisten to atm, Dive is especially so boring on re listen lol.

No one in 127 stands out as a proper 3rd but if I was scouting all of NCT, I would've picked Xiaojun. Can you imagine? Let me go back to the Make a Wish bridge and pass out lol

I think They went with Jungwoo because all 3 are similar heights(178-180cm)/body proportions, kinda move similarly, and enjoy the R+B pop sound. I know that’s partially why EXO CBX happened because they were similar heights/moved similarly plus finally Xiumin’s vocals could shine. I think Xiaojun’s vocal timbre would sound great with Dojae. don’t get me wrong Xiaojun is gorgeous but Idk if that trio would look as good on stage together cuz Xiaojun is 170cm. Jungwoo does get overshadowed vocally but I think Dojaejung have great performance chemistry especially seeing the performance videos of Perfume and Kiss

I agree that performance-wise he holds his own and I can see their chemistry. The similar height thing makes sense too so visually it's appealing. I do hope Jungwoo gets to shine vocally so we can see what he's made of.

I agree, I feel like if we just got like a proper belt or two out of Jungwoo it would have helped because it's just DoJae that belt, hell Jaehyuns belt in Ordinary was unlike what he does in NCT I want more things that separate them as a unit like use more of Doyoungs lows and things like that, I think a switch in singing style could benefit greatly cause this still just sounds like NCT songs but just for 3 members...

I love this unit but I agree with you jungwoo gives sexy but like in a toned down way idk if that makes sense. But their voices do blend very well together. I also think that Yuta could’ve pulled this concept off really great honestly.

only 2 months late but the problem to me is, as you said, how impersonal it feels to them. If you look at the behind videos for their 3 individual stages on their last tour none of that personality is present. Jaehyun loves to be more whiny and emotional, Doyoung loves to be dramatic and deep and Jungwoo loves to be fun sexy and intense. I hope they get more freedom next release or have someone to bring that out into a cohesive direction.
