It's close now.

I'm polishing the game while waiting for the final animations to render to completion.

I estimate that they are done sometime in the middle of next week. By then I will wrap the episode up and ship it for beta testing and proof reading.

Next week I will announce a release date for Episode 2: Maggot brothers, but today I will tease the change log (which may change slightly).

Episode 2 contains:

1709 renders

77 animations

23 songs

23 sound effects

Between waiting and polishing the episode, I'm going to start the pre-production of Episode 3.

After Episode 2 has been released and you have had some time to enjoy it, I will make a post regarding my plan for Episode 3 and the summer, since it's almost time for a vacation from my IRL job.

1000 patrons Threesome polls

If you missed it, I hit 1000 patrons this week. Which was a huge milestone.

I'm celebrating this by having patrons help designing a threesome through different polls.

You can read more about the polls here.

This is the schedule for the polls.

1. Sexual positions: April 22 - May 3

2. Clothing: May 5 - May 10

3. Characters: May 12 - May 17

Currently there's a poll for sexual positions, where 5 animation types will be featured in a future threesome scene.

The front runners at the moment are (in no specific order)

4, 5, 6, 12, 16, 18, 19 and 20

Have a great weekend!

Good to hear it's getting close! One question, considering the amount of content you are adding, what's going to happen when it starts getting a little too big? Mega's free download tier only allows 5Gb a day, and I have a feeling you're going to be hitting that soon. Will you be doing patches or episode updates?

DrPinkCake

After Episode 3 or 4 (depending on binary size) I will split the game into "Chapters" or some other clever name for it. Exporting the data from the latest episode and importing it in the new "Chapter". I don't intend to go over 4.5 GB at most.

I think PhillyGames is facing the same problem as you, in their Episode 2 release they said: "Going forward from chapter 3 and on I will also include update patches so that you do not need to download the full game. I had to restructure how the game was built on the file structure side so I was unable to do the patch build for this one, but its prepped and ready for that in the future." Not sure how they are doing it, but it's an alternative to splitting the game up.

DrPinkCake

Yeah I thought about patches, but then I will have the issue with players not knowing how to apply it. So I rather use multipersistant save files and start fresh in intervals. It's the way I would be most comfortable with and would mean the least problems for players, I think.

1,700 + renderings...I reckon that's three times the size of an average update from other good developers - not counting animations! This is gonna be bonkers!

Whatever the solution, it would be nice to be able to seamlessly play through the game in its entirety i.e. no reloading or need to relaunch the game in episodes, which would negatively impact the immersive feel of a game, IMO.

DrPinkCake

Yes, that is a fair point. I think that the way to go is to eventually merge it all together. It's just tricky maintaining all different versions all at once. And changing once in a while between episodes shouldn't kill the immersion as episodes all have a beginning, middle and end.
