I’ve noticed something recently now that I’m back to writing at a decent clip and have multiple stories properly chugging along: I have a hard time just sitting in one scene, especially if I’m writing anything over a certain length. My vignettes and shorts don’t struggle with this as much, but it’s pretty glaring (at least to me!) in longer pieces.

To be more specific about the problem, I’ve noticed I tend to gloss over things or skip potentially juicy bits in favor of “progressing the story.” So rather than actually dwelling on a scene or body description, I bluster through and end up skipping all the parts we’re really here for!

I’m not entirely sure why I do this. I have a suspicion it’s because I’m crunched for time, so rather than a long, lush scene that really hits on the sexy details, I merely hint at it soI have time to push into the next (equally truncated) “scene.”

Now that I’ve caught this trend, I’m determined to practice my way out of it! So many of my favorite WG writers are my favorites because of those little details and the way they can dwell in them without rushing things. It’s a skill and I need to master it.

With that in mind, if you have favorite tropes or moments you’d like to see (think button popping, stuckage, detailed body description, etc.), let me know! I love hearing what other people love about feedism, especially when it’s something I’ve never considered before.
