It was 75 years ago today that the Nazi's surrendered, but allot of people lost their lives to come to that day. Please take a moment today to remember those on whatever side who died! It is a holiday today in England.

bye the way, have you ever heard of a site called red bubble? Its legit. You post your artwork and they make custom shirts and shit out of it and sell them. You should post your logo dude! I bet it would be super popular with gamers and rappers and shit. Id buy one for sure.

Anonymous

That logo is dope. I feel like you could make a lot of money just off of it. My son is an avid gamer (unfortunately) but he saw your logo and thought it was shit hot!

Happy VE Day!! 🖤🎉

Happy VE Day! Wish more Americans were grateful, but instead we got idiots like ANTIFA who don't even know what a real fascists looks like until they look in the mirror 😂

So, whom of us have ww2 veterans in their family? I'm guessing most of us do. All my grandparents where involved in the Pacific Theatre. Easy peasy, my great-uncle was decapitated in Changi Prison by the Japanesey

My Grandfather fought in the Battle of Britain, Changi Prison in Singapore? If so I lived in that area, it's where the Airport is.

He was held for a year in Changi, then finally beheaded. His grave is behind the airport, but I'm yet to visit it. The Battle of Britain is legendary af

Honor to the people who bravely fought. The ones who survived and those that didn't.

Happy Birthday, Patsy! 🎂 Happy Anniversary! My husband and I just had ours on April 30. 😊

Haha I don't know if I'd survive the first year of that much celebration in one day! Do you need me to send you some aspirin???

I always enjoy watching footage of the day in day out lives of the different folks operating in their respective theaters. Whether it's 101st Airborne in Belgium, the Waffen SS, the Canadian 3rd Infantry at Juno Beach, or the Japanese Naval Infantry all of them regardless of uniform had to put up with the same stupid shit as in my day. Dealing with field-day bullshit, equipment that was older than them and didn't quite fit, food that's past it's prime and you know you're going to pay the price for eating it later. Really not a whole lot different from us and connects you to a different time and place. Closest thing to a time machine we have I guess

Yeh from what I gather there wasn't much left for the Luftwaffe to send up there in the last few years regardless of pilot experience. Your grandfather sounded like a badass and nice Vonnegut reference by the way

I read a few accounts of German infantry that they could have sworn they saw a German fighter plane strafe the beach a couple times against all logic that one would be available. It's like the story of the flamethrower exploding on Omaha Beach. It was in a scene in Saving Private Ryan and I read accounts from both sides of it supposedly happening. It seems like one couldn't just explode like that but I talked to a plumber who said it was unlikely but not impossible if the correct lines and valves where broken at the right time and the operator fired one of the ignition charges at the right time. From what I understand the air at Omaha was about 90% lead so I guess it's possible that happened. D-Day ended up being such a shit show I guess we'll never now most of what actually happened

I was wondering if anybody read The Children's Crusade, you got it Michael. Everything Was Beautiful And Nothing Hurt.

I'll share a gory one with you. You won't get this in a history book. My grandad on Mom's side served in Burma, under Stilwell. They struck up a deal with a local tribe called the Naga Hillmen. The Naga Hillmen carried Gurkha knives and they did not like the Japanese, but they did like marijuana and hashish. So the U.S Army would pay the Naga Hillmen hashish for every Japanese head they brought in. At first they would bury the heads but the Naga Hillmen started digging the heads up and bringing the same heads back for more hash. So, they had to start burning the Japanese heads in a pile and then people started pulling the gold fillings from the now crispy Japanese skulls. This I was told directly from my grandfather after he had a few E&J brandy and 7-ups and he'd light up a soggy cigar end and tell me these things and how many people he knew that were killed and how first one brother would be killed then a week later that guy's brother would catch a bullet and join him. He said it was a living hell. That was Victor, a guy from San Francisco that got drafted.

Yeh sounds similar to how the Green Berets worked with the Montagnards in Vietnam and the Kurds in Iraq and whoever they're doing it with these days I don't really know anymore I just wrap up in my DD-214 blanket and tune everything out

Thanks for the story. Always enjoy an interesting one

Hi Matt , Hi Deadbug ..." My Grandfather was in Changi Prison Singapore " I went to visit....he survived it but paralyzed and traumatized.... he is my Hero... .

Yes. Both my Granddads fought in Burma. My mums dad had nightmares from it til the day he died. He also contracted malaria and almost died while there. He always said whenever they killed a Japanese soldier, they were told to cut off their ears and put them on a bootlace to be brought back to base camp
