Hey guys!

Today I came to bring a topic that everyone asks us a lot, yes a lot!! The damn 3D tracks!

For those who don't know, 3D Tracks arrived together with DLC Platinum (Claas).

It is a new system, never seen in other games in the Farming Simulator franchise. For the older ones, it probably remembers the TerraTrac scripting system (made by modders), which has recently been converted, but does not work well and it can never be available on the console (because it is a script not approved by Giants).

Well, as I said above, the TrackArray system is innovative. Why? basically, it transforms a track that has the "straight" design into the correct curvature. Look at the image below:

This is a track with the TrackArray texture applied. Basically, this transparent part of the track has been folded to be in the correct format. Without the file (which is similar to a specular texture or normal map) it would not have this round shape that would perfectly surround the track wheels.

this is what happens when you remove the TrackArray (it unfolds):

"So Custom Modding have you basically figured out how this new Giants system works?"

Yes, my dear friend, we know how it works and we even made a track with a different design than the ones made by Giants, as is the case with the tracks on the Case IH 2150, from Soucy S-TECH 012P.

Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut, now it starts to get interesting.

We know, since the launch of Claas' DLC, that we have 3 formats available:

Triangular, on the John Deere 9RX (which was banned, because only the 9RX has this format and is on the DLC):

Circulate with identical wheels (this can be used because there are other "free" mods that are on ModHub):

And finally, this one, circular, but with bigger rear wheels, which is the same TrackArray of our Soucy track and is available on the ModHub on a Giants tractor in the form of a mod:

It is now that it starts to get sad: we know the whole track system and how it works, BUT, we don't know how to make the blessed TrackArray that gives the format for the tracks within the game.

Yes, our 9RT does not have 3D tracks, do you know why? We don't have the TrackArray that has this format.

And you know what's worse? Our Demco 22 Series will also not have 3D tracks, because we don't know how to make the TrackArray.

Recently, I tried again to ask the Giants how to do it, but again they sent us to ask the community. But, there is absolutely no one (as far as we know, someone may be playing with the tracks in the dark) that has done TrackArray in a different format.

I am not mad at Giants, I understand that they have few employees and the apandemic has made everything worse, but I am intrigued as to why not explain to us at the beginning for all modders...

We have already tried several software and we have been doing this for over 1 year, practically since the day of the launch of the DLC. But without success. I love this game and discovering things or learning how to do it is always incredible, that's why I have been here for so many years, but definitely, without a light, it is impossible to move in the dark.

That's it guys, for you were interested in knowing more about 3D tracks, here is all our knowledge and if anyone knows anything else, be sure to share it with us.

(Edit)

Someone asked about the tracks Challenger And Fendt MT Mod that is on ModHub. They use the same TrackArray as Axion:

See the difference between the track segment and the tractor frame:

Now a comparison with the same tractor with track without 3D:

He is using Claas Axion's TrackArray, but it is visibly wrong ... Tractor with this type of track are different, the front wheels are smaller and the rear wheels are bigger. In Axion, the difference in wheel sizes is minimal and this is evident when compared to those of the Fendt / Challenger that does not have 3D tracks.

Dear CM, me and my modding team also tried to use the 3D Track System made from Giants. We have found out how to create our own chain structure in Maya, using the Giants system. However, our problem is that we don't know in which format they are stored. It should be a 2D array format. However, we don't have a solution for this problem yet.Do you know how to save the files?

Hey Simon. The solution you need is on the tracks of my 2150. Take a good look. We modeled 3D and used Giants' TrackArray. Basically you need a "straight" model, and TrackArray will fold the track into the right format.

When adding triangular 3D tracks, is there a way to add them so they perfectly wrap around the tracks? For example, I noticed on Siid’s 8RX that the 3D tracks on the rear fit almost perfectly but the 3D tracks on the front are squished and don’t fit as well. I’ve messed with manipulating the XYZ axises in giants editor to add 3D tracks to the X9 but they are not perfect by any stretch of the imagination.

It's not possible! You need to generate a new TrackArray, and unfortunately, as I said in the post, nobody knows how to do it yet. :( very saaaaad
