Bonnie Jo Stufflebeam: submitted for the approval of the midnight society, i call this the tale of the people coming to terms with life's melancholy pageant
Stufflebeam: but also
Stufflebeam: there's skeletons
Koontz: s-s-skeletons???

Stufflebeam: that's right
Stufflebeam: spooky scary skeletons
Stufflebeam: Send shivers down your spine
Stufflebeam: Shrieking skulls will shock your soul
Stufflebeam: Seal your doom tonight

Stufflebeam: these stories take place in a world much like our own
Stufflebeam: with one big difference
Stufflebeam: there's skeletons walking around
Poe: i mean, that's a pretty big difference
Stufflebeam: it is

Koontz: i don't like skeletons! this is scary
King: don't worry, dean, skeletons aren't real, they can't hurt you
Barker: don't tell the kid that, of course skeletons are real!
Poe: clive is technically right, steve. skeletons ARE real
King: yeah but
King: but not like that!

Stufflebeam: don't worry dean, it's not HUMAN skeletons
Stufflebeam: it's animal skeletons
Stufflebeam: it's a world where animated animal skeletons are just walking around
Koontz: oh! that's not scary!
Koontz: that's not scary at all!
Koontz: that's COOL

King: wait dean, so human skeletons are scary but animal skeletons aren't?
Koontz: yeah of course! everyone knows that!
Koontz: you act like you don't know anything about skeletons, steve
King:
Koontz: i don't think steve knows anything about skeletons

Stufflebeam: and check this out
Stufflebeam: when i say that animal skeletons are walking around
Stufflebeam: some of these animal skeletons
Stufflebeam: are DINOSAURS
Koontz: this is the coolest thing ever!!!

Koontz: that's so cool, i wish i lived in a world with living dinosaur skeletons
Stufflebeam: careful what you wish for, dean, because this world is full of angst and ennui and people dealing with issues
Koontz:
Stufflebeam: but, yes, there are also dinosaurs
Koontz: DINOSAURS!

poor, adorable Dean, such an innocent; if King weren’t around to act as a shield, Barker would wear HIS skeleton as a hat
