Hello again,

Hopefully you've had a chance to try out v0.09 for yourself at this point, if so, I hope you remembered to load up a day 1 or 2 save to try out the new 2D Bonus combat sex scene by flowerxl. You can enable the 2D scene via the "content toggle" key item in your inventory.

I think it came out very nicely for this test run, and I hope you enjoyed it. I want to let you know about the process a little bit, and then get your opinion on whether you think we should attempt to do more like it.

The good thing about these, is that it doesn't take that much dev time for me to add the scene itself. It can easily be done in a day or maybe two once the artist has done all of the images, depending on how many corrections or edits I need to make personally.

The downside though, is that this scene, with all it's variations, took over 4 months to create all of the art for and cost over $1200. Now, obviously the price and timing will depend on the individual artist, and it doesn't always have to be the same artist, but the point I'm trying to make here is that it's not the sort of thing I can order all of the time, and it takes away resources that could be used to fund other things, like voice lines, Terminal Quickies Illustrations, assets for use in the game itself, paying others to help out, etc.

And to top that off, obviously, all of the major and pivotal scenes need to be done in my style (3D) for the sake of consistency. So any 2D scene created would have to be totally optional bonus content that didn't have too much plot or quest significance. Things like additional combat sex scenes, or alternative repeatable scenes with other characters. So there are limits on what can be done here.

I'm okay doing some more scenes like this, but only if people think they are worth it and would like to see more. Of course, I am talking about in-game bonus scenes here (Like the one added in v0.09) not 2D comms in general, I would still get those done from time to time regardless.

So, knowing all of that, do you think it is worth it to make more of these 2D Bonus Scenes?

If you do, please leave suggestions in the comments for what kind of bonus scene you would like to see next in this 2D style. I would go with flowerxl again, but we will see in the future for different artists. Getting someone to do assets for a whole scene is more costly, challenging & time consuming so I want to make sure I'm working with people who are able to deliver.

Thanks for the feedback and support. Will see you for the podcast on the 31st.

Just out of curiosity, I would like to know the main reason why people are picking "NO". Do you think it's a waste of funds, or do you just not like the idea or style of these scenes?

BigT

The more the better if you ask me

I'm missing the neutral option, because I'm indifferent to it. Imho it's a nice to have but by no means a must.

more arts and scenes are always better, but if that takes too many time, it should happen ponctually, with polls on what scene could be 2D or with what artists produce

Jimjim3dx

Yeah, maybe I should have had a neutral option tbh. But this is still insightful enough to gauge interest.

I think that the idea is actually pretty good, and I kinda like the variety it'd give. It's just that having 2D scenes alongside 3D ones can potentially be quite jarring, especially if they're few and far between. I think that if it was like an option to have all scenes 2D or 3D, that'd make it more fitting. But I don't think for a project long-term that's entirely viable, if you only specialise in 3D work.

In a 3D-Game i don't think 2D is necessary. Honestly for me it's wasted ressources. But for comics, lore storys with some pic's i think 2D is cool. Maybe that's an option.

Jimjim3dx

Yeah, that's what the Terminal Quickies series of stories is supposed to be :)

Jimjim3dx

Yeah, at least I made it so that you have to enable them if you want to see them.

Personally, my reason for no, is because I think it should be one of those small number of perks in the game. As we keep having more, it becomes less special. That, and it's a lil too much resource consuming. I'd rather the game gets complete first, and then you can add the 2d scenes as a add on or so. Could also be done as a "What If?" Bonus story???

Abaddon

I honestly didn't like it. Don't get me wrong it was good and all, but it just doesn't fit the style of this game in my view. The resources required to do it also don't justify it. Like the others, if you wanna put it in, do it after the game is done. Personally though, even if you do put it in, I will not use it.

Jimjim3dx

Well, I probably wouldn't do that. That's a waste of time and resources at that point.
