 Naked Horned Rat

Muriscornigerum periculosa

It is a rare species of horned rat that was considered extremely dangerous. They live inside a cave system that caused so many mysterious death and illness to explorers. They consume a certain material inside the cave and store it on their horn and skin. The material somehow emits some kind of energy that caused people to become very ill and even died of organ failures after being around the creature. Researchers are still investigating this mysterious material and the energy it’s radiating.  

When I saw the word hazard, my mind immediately went to 'Radiation'. Thus, I want to make something using that concept. I was contemplating between a giant uranium creature or a small one. But then I realize that a small creature that can hang around the populated area for prolonged time without anyone noticing while radiating an 'unknown wave or energy' that poison everyone around them slowly and painfully is kinda more interesting. Plus, I throw some hints that point to the fact that 'radiation poisoning' and radiation in general, are still unknown to people in this world. Although given more time, I want to explore the design a bit more.
