Come have fun with us, Bumper! The water's great~

"Ehh... No, thanks, bro. I'm not great in water, and... 'sides, bathing suits are just not my thing!"

Though he might act all brave and badass nowadays, he was bullied a lot as a kid, and as a teenager. Part of him trying to be a racer is sort of a way to show the people who stepped on him that he's worthy of praise. (Now, if only the world of adults weren't paved with crushed dreams...)

A certain cynical redhead might say, "It's cruel to tell people to keep chasing their dreams... You're just raising false hopes." Another certain redhead might say, "Go for it, kiddo! Where there's a will, there's a way!"

... So, who should he believe? If neither, what would YOU tell him?

So Bumper has self-esteem issues. He struggles to be himself, especially around others, out of fear of being judged. I've sort of envisioned him living alone (but not necessarily lonely) where he can be himself 24/7.

Bumper lives with his parents, but he basically has most of the basement all to himself, including half of the garage. He doesn't invite people over, so I guess he can be himself all he likes!
