I've never drawn Sylvia and Jerry in casual clothes before, they've been in work clothes or dressing gowns, so I had to put more thought into it! I wanted to give Sylvia more traditional clothes, she's mixed white British and Bangladeshi, though she was cut off from her parents once she came out until they were quite old. I think- like with a lot of second gens- she would leave behind that part of her cultural identity until she got older, and then attempt to reconnect again.
I looked at a load of online clothes shops to find something casual (especially since she's gardening :P) and decided on a Kurta-  https://www.myntra.com/women-kurtas-kurtis-suits?f=Color%3AOff%20White_f2f2f2

(I feel like it's probably inevitable that I'll make mistakes trying to represent aspects of a different culture, and if anyone notices anything, please tell me ;P)

And I couldn't pass up the opportunity to put Jerry in a super butch outfit! It's quite strange to put her in jeans after she's only been in formal trousers so far! (Julien will be in shock...)

Julien ideas that didn't make the cut! I want to explore more feminine things with Julien, but I'm trying to do it gradually as he gets more comfortable and branches out. At the moment I think he sits at the 'flamboyant but acceptable' level of masculinity, like you'd see with  more rock influenced fashion.

(here's a link to my pinterest, the main cast have their own boards, and that's where most of my clothes + interior inspiration comes from-  https://www.pinterest.co.uk/malacandrax/  )

Sylvia & Jerry's garden!
I'm a big plant nerd and jumped at the chance to design a garden, so I of course had to actually choose the plants she'd have (I have most of these in my garden :3, and a few of them are wishful thinking (beech, eucalyptus, californian lilac *sigh*)

I didn't really have time to make them pretty concepts, so they're mostly just functional and for personal reference, but I figured it was worth sharing anyway!

The last picture is the colours without lines, since that's more like it'll look in the comic, and the colours work quite well together I think!
