Greetings adventurers!
As prices in the cities continued to rise and events got more and more exclusive, those left on the outside were drifting ever further from being able to make their matters known. That’s when an enterprising individual with a passion for enchantment got an idea. He would make his own way into any event. Locked in his study he made roll after roll of these golden tickets and tapped them with the magics needed to open doors and move guards. Unfortunately for the man, the local thieves guild got wind of his endeavors and swiped every last one of the tickets. Somehow, one has now fallen into your hands. Well, as they say. Let do.

Design notes from Matthew:
I always love creating something for social endeavors. Previously we created the Socialite’s Guise and I like to think this item is in that same vein. There’s something invigorating about making something that touches more on the social aspects of an adventure instead of just always adding combat power. I guess that’s why I gravitate towards making things like this.
I said when we started writing for PF2E that I didn’t want to make perfect 1 to 1 translations of items from 5E to PF2E. Instead, I wanted to write two individual items with the same theme. Basically my method for this is that I think about an interesting mechanic in each system and then I work to add something more to it or give another option for it. This item is a good illustration of creating something in the same theme, but different functionality for each system.
5E is usually a bit more floaty about their social systems. There isn’t as much to latch on to there and players are sometimes a bit more combat focused. That meant that for the 5E version I wanted to create the possibility of an interesting detour adventure that wouldn’t completely break an encounter.
In Pathfinder, there’s some more social systems to grab onto so I decided to keep the item more focused on an interesting interaction than anything else. I really love the critical success basically giving you a critical “request” success as well. I think that kind of detail allows you lots of cool opportunities without breaking the encounter.
Social magic items are always a little interesting to make. There’s less systems usually to directly interact with, but in that there’s sometimes a freedom to be found if you look for it. You can allow a lot to happen when it has social implications rather than combat power. It’s definitely something I want to do more of in the future.
We highly encourage you to join our Discord server where you’ll get access to exclusive channels that have sneak peeks, behind the scenes chatter, and more.
