Greetings adventurers!

Keeping food fresh is an arduous task even in the largest of towns. You have to deal with digging out cellars and salting or pickling and in the end, you get worse tasting food than when you started. Well, never ones to be stifled by “rules” we set out to create a device that could keep your food freshly stored at cold temperatures no matter the time of year. After we finished it up, we couldn’t help but notice the potential combat prowess present within these. With a few little modifications, well now we have a whole new audience to pitch it too. Just be mindful of where you’ll get the ice from.

Our patrons get early access to all of these items as well as additional formats that are easily usable in both physical and online play. Additionally they get high-res art exports, easy to use text exports, behind the scenes updates, and a lot more.

If that strikes your fancy, consider becoming a Patron

Design notes from Matthew:
It’s been some time since we released Flint & Steel and I think of this in many ways as a sister item to it. It brings the flame, this brings the ice and they’re both firearms in a traditional looking sense, but not quite in their function. I guess you could call this one a frostarm or something like that. Look, I don’t know the semantics of the language, but it was interesting to develop.
Typically with weaponry, your best bet is to go off of something that’s already included in the base game. You just add additional properties to it. Sadly, firearms are not core so I had to do a bit of creating. That’s alright though, I’d always prefer some amount of challenge over the complete easy way of doing things. The biggest challenge was making sure the damage felt impactful, but not the start of the show. I wanted the chilling mechanic to actually mean something on this. I also didn’t want to give it charges so I needed another balance mechanic.
I decided that ammo could definitely be a balancing point. Giving it the reloading property already slows it down for folks that want to continuously use it. You’ll also need some ice to keep it fed, but that can come from magical sources. Really it just needed some hard block and that was its ability to hold and cycle ammo. I’m happy with it in the end.

I’m always excited when we can introduce something new to the space that gives folks a new playstyle or adds something to the game that we haven’t seen before. I think this is definitely one of those items that adds something special without feeling out of place depending on your setting. I hope you love it.

We highly encourage you to join our Discord server where you’ll get access to exclusive channels that have sneak peeks, behind the scenes chatter, and more.
