Greetings adventurers!

I’ve never been one for long walks on the beach or wholesome strolls down the pier, but when I heard of a cave by the shore with an ever flowing spring, well I was indeed intrigued. I sent missives to a few colleagues and off we were on a bit of an adventure of our own. Within the cave we ran into your usual variety of miscreants, but after scaring them off and finding an illusory wall, we were greeted with a rare sight indeed. A sword of metal make, but constantly pouring forth water from it sitting on an altar allowing the waters to trickle down through the cracks in the wall. What a fascinating sight it was to behold. I plucked it up immediately. Hopefully no one was using the spring.

Our patrons get early access to all of these items as well as additional formats that are easily usable in both physical and online play for D&D and Pathfinder 2E. Additionally they get high-res art exports, easy to use text exports, behind the scenes updates, and a lot more.

Design notes from Matthew:

It’s been quite a bit since we made a sword, and one thing I know about the adventuring community out there is that they freaking love swords. Something else about swords is that they are just the perfect canvas to paint on to. They can really be pretty much anything if you get the theming down. We’ve done flowers, fire, dueling, disarming, and so many variants, but one thing we haven’t done is water.

For the 5E version, one thing that 5E doesn’t really do well is how it handles weakness and resistance. It doubles or halves the damage and honestly that would be just way too powerful to plop onto a weapon that already had other things going on, like the wave I wanted to add. It made more sense then to simply build in my own drenched mechanic and let that speak for itself and handle the mechanical lift. Don’t be afraid to make your own status effects. I think that’s one of the most fun ways to design.

Over on the PF2E side, the weaknesses already pretty much work the way I wanted them too so that was an easy fit to give the lightning weakness. It also encourages teamplay and coordination with your other casters to make sure they’ve got some lightning ready to go with this. That’s probably one of the best things to do when you’re thinking of designing an item, think about how you can promote team play within the campaign. It makes for great design exercises.

Swords are just that stunning canvas to make anything you want on top of. If you’re struggling with how to apply a theme, certainly you can strive for something more complex, but the faithful sword will always be there as a backup if you have a great idea, but don’t know how to get it in the game.

We highly encourage you to join our Discord server where you’ll get access to exclusive channels that have sneak peeks, behind the scenes chatter, and more.
