Julia bought a kit for growing microgreens on our windowsill. I thought it might be find to film them with my GoPro during the growth period over 6 days, day and night. See life do its thing.

We nearly thought we'd killed the poor little guys when they ran out of water, and they went all limp on Day 5, so there's drama in this story too! Thankfully they all came back to life a few hours later. We've since harvested the goods and they taste really nice with every meal that needs some supergreens.

This was the first time I did a time lapse with my HERO 8 in Nightlapse Mode. The camera was attached to the mains with my trusty Audio Adapter (the angled cable was a neater solution on the window sill). I had it very close to the rectangular growth box, hence the front is a tad out of focus. There was no additional light involved, just ambient and outdoor.

The sequence was filmed in 4K linear, and I zoomed in a bit to correct rotation and framing. I had recorded it at 10x speed initially, which gave me just under 30 minutes of footage. I sped that up for interesting visuals and picked a track by Oakwood Station for the music bed ("It's how I like it", licensed from Epidemic).

Enjoy!

I love seeing video taken out of our normal perception range, be it lime-lapse or high-speed. It was interesting to see how fast the little guys wilted, but I'm glad they recovered. One of my first YouTube videos was of a lime-lapse of corn growing. I worked in an office that was a converted cow barn for a time, and took a picture once a week in the same spot then blended them together in my video editor. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_HbeW85j_Lw

Thanks Brian, I'm glad you liked it! I've been doing quite a few time-lapse experiments over the years too, I love seeing something come together that is otherwise imperceptible. I thought I made a playlist somewhere, but can't seem to find it... I might put one together.
