Nope

Looks like Leveling high was just waiting for this moment. Looks like Rob might be dead, and as much as that would lead to plot and character development, something tells me he ain’t dying here. But that’s just a theory. A game theory.

oh no

BananaInMyPants

Awesome battle. I wonder why they didn't have Zamira use her Mercy ability to knock him out.

Raphael Mort

Maybe because Zamira's damage output is lower than Keira's, and they're not so worried about her accidentally killing him.

Oh shit this was fantastic! Also oh shit at that last message!

Catra

Amazing chapter, holy shit what a cliff hanger, can't wait for the next chapter

sure am glad Rob has 100% damage nullification on his brain, this means Keira can swing at his head with wild abandon and the chances that she'll do any lasting damage are surprisingly low. Also Rob got like 3 levels from Grant using him to kill himself, which means that killing a Blight-viathan should be at least twice as many levels if not more right? i'm not convinced Rob only got to level 71, especially since he was knocked out while getting status notifications. I really hope we get to see his character status next chapter

Honestly more worried about leveling high going to, well, high. Or severe, I forget which. Also, we know it's an entirely separate entity from Rob at this point, one that is destructive, indulgent, and has few inhibitions. Spooky stuff, and I'm looking forward to our next encounter. P.S. I think the blight is referring to leveling high as heart killer, not Rob

The blight infecting rob is something I’ve been thinking about, because if I remember right rob has a dormant locus of power in his body, which could house a blight.

Matthew smith

it could have still been going higher still. he was knocked out partway. he got so few levels from grant due to it being suicide and the danger level is an exp multiplier. if he got 3 levels from a much lower level dude who was basically not a threat compare that to a blight leviathan that nearly killed him and 6 levels is probbably low for that.

I agree about Leveling High being the one the Blight refers to as Heartkiller. Wonder if "Heartkiller" refers to Leveling High effectively 'killing' a human's own 'heart', e.g. empathy and concern for other beings. Also that 'see you soon' could be the Blight banking on Leveling High's severity increasing, subsuming Rob like in Dhalerune, perhaps permanently.

I must give praise where it is due. Your rendition of this awe inspiring fight is incredible. Your unhindered ability to release gobsmacking chapters again and again every week without fail is a feat that gives me true joy. Your story is only one I have known to be truly perennial, not only does it live all year, but it does so with excitement. I await every single chapter with relish. Yet that is overshadowed by your brilliant skill as a Dramaturge, as you create such detailed and relatable characters and show their trials, be it of combat or social. You have some of the best fights I have ever seen, and your rendition of the Blight is unceasingly horrifying, with each example having something that leaves the whole ecounter with that touch of unease. Rob has undergone a brilliant metamorphosis as he's grown through each trial, each failure, each battle, each threat. You've depicted that in a way that goes beyond words. I am delighted to support such an excellent work, you have done a truly fantastic job. Thank you.
