GUNTHER on living in the States, would he vacate the Intercontinental Championship, and his Finisher (Patreon)

Fightful had the opportunity to catch up with the WWE Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER on Royal Rumble Media Day.

Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp began the conversation by mentioning to GUNTHER the last time he spoke with him was when he was close to breaking the Honkey Tonk Man's Intercontinental title reign of 454 days. Sean asked him what it meant to him or if it was part of the job. GUNTHER told us, "It is part of the job, but it is a great accomplishment."

GUNTHER would also say whenever he gets asked about it, he says, "It's not the time to celebrate it, but it's going to be later." He also told us that he is in a tunnel in a way but needs to stay focused. GUNTHER did say it has been great for his career.

Sean mentioned GUNTHER's promo with Seth Rollins on the January 22nd episode of Raw when GUNTHER said he would win the Royal Rumble and then beat Seth Rollins at WrestleMania for the World Heavyweight Championship. Sean asked him if he would push to keep the Intercontinental Championship. The former NXT UK Champion responded, saying he has not thought about it, but also said it might not do the title justice if it is just sitting there as a side project.

Sean congratulated GUNTHER on becoming a new Father. 

Sean asked GUNTHER what are some of his favorite things about the States since he moved here. He said the lower taxes are very good compared to Europe. The Austrian native mentioned how one can go out and purchase a vehicle in one day. He added it does not go like that back in Austria or Germany; it takes at least a day or two.

Sean mentioned to GUNTHER that he commented to someone online when they asked about GUNTHER's finisher. Sean said, "My reply was his finisher was pinning the other guy." He laughed and said that was true. GUNTHER would add that it is a wrestling cliche, but he sees its upside. 

GUNTHER says he always approaches his wrestling logically and does what makes sense regarding ending matches.

In closing, Sean mentioned that he enjoys his promo work and asked if he would ever consider acting. He said, "I don't know, it would have to be something specific." GUNTHER said he could be a Bond villain's bodyguard or the BOND villain.
