Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks relationship CONFIRMED.

For years, there were questions and rumors regarding the nature of Cody Rhodes friendship with Matt and Nick Jackson and Kenny Omega. Particularly Cody not being involved in BTE and on screen angles with the three for a large portion of his time at AEW.

At the red carpet of Cody Rhodes' new Peacock documentary in Atlanta, Fightful was able to get some clarity on that. We asked if Cody still spoke with the Bucks and without hesitation, Cody confirmed that he does fairly regularly. He said that without them graciously allowing BTE footage in his documentary, that it probably couldn't have happened. He said that even if he never shares a ring with the Young Bucks and Kenny Omega again, they're bonded for life due to what they did together

We spoke to Cody about a variety of things, including leaving AEW, Triple H's and the throne smashing and more. We'll have stories throughout the week here on Select and a full interview.

American Nightmare: Becoming Cody Rhodes premieres on Peacock July 31

I hope he comes back to AEW one day :/

I still think that after Cody's wwe title run....he won't renew with wwe and will probably head back to AEW. I don't think this whole thing was about him being unhappy in AEW. I really do think he just wanted to accomplish what his father tried to do...which was always really part of his narrative. I think the timing of it just made sense. He didn't need to continue doing what he was doing in AEW. He was just acting as a gatekeeper...he knew his character was getting a little stale...and it just made sense for him to do this before the opportunity passed him by.

Can't wait to hear Cody change his story on the end of his aew run for the millionth time

obviously...he would never say that going back was part of his plan otherwise wwe would definitely not put the belt on him. So that's why i think everyone is kind of hush hush about what really went down. I don't think it was a money thing. he probably just has a handshake agreement with Tony that he'd be back when he was ready.

Cody in WWE has gotten stale. I'm far more interested in LA Knight to be honest even though WWE isn't going to push him anywhere near the likes of Cody.

Not to mention they brought him in for 3 matches again Seth freakin Rollins. Kinda hard to turn that down. Probably also included a promise or plan of Rumble/Mania. Can't imagine many would turn it down.

yeah. i mean what did he have to lose. if AEW needed him...i think he would've stayed. but it was already established and doing well. he knew he had a few years to jump off the boat and it would stay afloat just fine. you will NEVER hear him say "oh i'll be back at some point"....wwe would completely shut down the plans of his push. he has to convince them that he's a wwe guy now.

Why you gotta be like that? Everyone excited for what looks like a good documentary (and a sincere one wich is kinda unprecedented in WWE ) and without seeing it you already hating? Thats sad

Interesting stat: BTE LXXIII “bullet club invades RAW” was filmed September 25, 2017 in Ontario, California. RAW EXACTLY six years later (September 25, 2023) will be in ONTARIO, CALIFORNIA with CODY RHODES as a featured star… the bucks contracts are said to be expiring soon… I think I see where this is going…

At one point did I say it looks bad? One of the topics is him talking about AEW and its pretty widely accepted that he constantly flip flops on what happened at the end of his run, depending on what works best to say at that moment.

Not a fan of the majority of stuff the typical wwe fanbase is into tbh

That WWE would pass up $$$ on the table with Nick Aldis in a BACKSTAGE role is crazy. Cody's had some big feuds since 2016, I'd argue that Aldis-Rhodes is as big as any of them based on where they were at the time in essentially different promotions, and it was a short feud. Aldis-Rhodes 3 is exactly what I am waiting for in WWE. Add in the chemistry between Nick Aldis and Eli Drake/LA Knight and the three of them have a shared story. That's what birthed Billy Corgan's NWA Powerrr which was on fire before pandemic lockdowns. The "Ten Pounds of Gold" series footage with Cody and Nick SHOULD be included in this documentary.

Cody is one of the biggest stars in all of wrestling. Any company would benefit from having him

Cody is one of the hottest stars in the industry right now. He's great in WWE. Respect Cody

I’m not surprised, but it’s nice to hear that they’re still in regular communication and there’s no bad blood between the lot of them.

I think his goal was to always go back to WWE tbh, he left to reinvent himself and do other things, with his ultimate goal to eventually come back as a major star and compete for the big title. I don't see him going back to AEW for a number of reasons. 1. He doesn't fit the direction AEW is going, 2. He is super over in WWE, 3. He's made it known he wants to retire early, 4. He just seems to be a WWE guy now

I'm sure he will at some point. You know, someone will be getting beat down then "Kingdom" starts up.

yeah I am pretty sure in the young bucks book they mentioned that Cody was the last to agree to start AEW. Bucks and Kenny were ready to go and Cody was pretty indecisive as he wanted to go back to WWE. Clearly it was always in his mind.
