MLW's new National Openweight Champion, John Morrison, joined The Wrestling Perspective Podcast this week. The show is hosted weekly by Lars Frederiksen of the Punk Rock Band "Rancid" and Dennis Farrell. This week, they spoke with the wrestling veteran on various topics.

Morrison talked about the promotions he has worked for and why they would have him wrestle under his first name, followed by a nickname or the company's name. He said it was weird and got campy, but overall, he enjoyed it. He said for the first time in a long time; he is using his real name in MLW.

John talked about being a journeyman, and he feels that even if he spent his whole career in the WWE, he would still be an adaptable wrestler. However,  he added that he has worked in multiple countries and has always been able to adapt to the different styles of wrestling because they bring him more experience. John said that he would be wrestling Ninja Mack and that he's never wrestled him but knows that Mac has a different style and says he is wondering how he will combat that. John mentions getting his opponent's input to hear their ideas for a match and add his touch.

John tries to be a wrestling fan to an extent, but there is so much to watch now. He mentioned enjoying watching AEW's Best of 7 series between Death Triangle and The Elite, but he cannot watch everything because of the time consumption it would take. A friend recommended that he check out Will Ospreay vs. Kenny Omega from Wrestle Kingdom 17. When asked about Lucha Underground, Morrison said that Lucha Underground would be near impossible to replicate. Morrison mentioned that he no longer wrestles in his backyard, but he does miss it. Morrison notes his dream matches include working with Kenny Omega, Kota Ibushi, and Jon Moxley.

John mentioned he loved the Zombie Lumberjack Match with Damien Priest during the Thunderdome era because it was so weird and did not make any sense. He said that one zombie followed him around for five minutes and kept touching him and that he finally had enough and told him to get away. John, The zombie, was none other than Scotty 2 Hotty.

John said that he and Taya wrote a screenplay called Iron Sheik Massacre on their honeymoon. The movie is playing in film festivals and will be released soon. In closing, John promoted his officially sanctioned boxing match against Harley from Epic Meal Time on April 15th.

This interview will be available for viewing on Fightful's Youtube channel or download or stream on your favorite podcast platform on Sunday, March 5th, at noon EST.
