Tommaso Ciampa spoke with Fightful and clarified a headline that many fans have ran with without context, that he would rather retire than move to Raw or Smackdown. Ciampa said that he's realistic about his physical capabilities after having neck surgery, and said that if he was told that he'd need to travel 300 days a year for whatever position he was in, then he'd probably agree that wasn't the spot for him.

Ciampa said that creative frustration is not the issue and he isn't particularly concerned about who wins and loses scripted matches, he's more prioritizing spending time with his family and child. Ciampa said that he's open to anything as long as it makes sense physically and from a schedule.

Ciampa told Fightful that he believes he's about halfway through his career at this point.

I don’t know what it’s like now but up to the Gargano feud he was a great example of someone improving in the NXT system. If he left tomorrow he would come out the other end more sought after than when he entered.

Well that makes sense. I remember him saying one time that he definitely didn’t want the schedule of the main roster and that it would likely speed up the end of his career. Whatever makes him happy I’m okay with. If he says he’s only about half way through his career then we have a lot of awesome matches coming up because the amount of high quality matches he’s had so far would make up a solid career for most wrestlers. Good for him.
