Matt Hardy is a free agent.

Fightful Select reported recently that Matt Hardy’s deal with AEW was up imminently. Technically, it was, as his contract was set to expire in March. However, as of today, he’s no longer with AEW.

Word within the company was that his contract had actually been extended for a few weeks through WrestleMania. We weren’t given a reason why, and don’t know of any injury time that Matt Hardy missed, as he still appeared on TV after his concussion years ago on AEW PPV. However, we’ve learned that Hardy and AEW had talks and Hardy had told those close to him that he was allowing his deal to lapse after not signing a deal offered to him.
