I rewatched some of these performances in anticipation of your coverage and I came out of it thinking “wow it’s crazy how well everyone is doing AND YET there is still such an X factor that The Boyz bring that really make sense as to why they ended up winning” so I’m glad you know that and have seen highlights from their performances and still are absolutely blown away by even their 90 second intro! You have a lot of treats coming your way for everybody, but I’m also really hoping The Boyz gets included in your deep dives in the future after this! I still can’t quite put my finger on what all is so special about them, so I’m hoping you give me some of the words during all this!

Honestly it's interesting how my criticisms for Golden Child as I was watching them basically got answered right after with Veryvery. My two qualms about Golden Child were 1) the song doesn't breathe so the performance can't breathe either, 2) the creepy feel of the opening with the organ and the crawling just didn't get followed through for the rest of the performance and made me think there was a disconnect between the first few seconds and the rest. Then came Veryvery who stuck to the intro's concept throughout with a track that had sonic variety so their choreo also had different textures. It left me satisfied to the max.

2024-02-09 02:41:35 I had one problem with this whole introduction challenge, mnet once again didn't really explain what their theme for this round meant so the interpretation was basically up to the groups... There should have been regulations ec! Like, Verivery is known for their synchronization so they picked that but Pentagon interpreted it more as "group color" ec, ONF took the Theme more literally ec... That really annoyed me

Oh you KNOW they will be a marathon contender in the future 1000%! Heck, next month may be themed the "Road to Kingdom" marathon selection haha! Sounds fun to me!

So glad I didn't feel alone in that! I felt bad for diving so deep into that but I've been seeing Dubstep be used SO MUCH MORE nowadays for crew performances so I thought it would be a good time to talk through some of the cautions with it! You summarized my thoughts EXACTLY!

YES TO THIS.... If they didn't rank each other I would have been fine with their own interpretation, but since they did a "layman" adjudication, it wasn't going to be a good ranking no matter what.... Because like you said, some took the remix route and others did a dance exploration route which vibes so different in what you look for and what is to be observed... Hopefully there is more clarity in the future for this!
