They've said before that they always sing live when possible but there are instances where because of sound quality issues, they are asked to lipsynch. The eXtended thing was a whole like 3 hour-long online concert experience they did during quarantine. They had to do multiple takes for each song (it took them about 2 or 3 days to finish the whole concert because they had VCRs to film, too.) My guess is that this was one of those instances where the sound wasn't great in every take, due to movement or whatnot, so they might've used the sound from a previous take and clipped it to this one (either in parts or in full, but as you said it's so seamless everywhere else, that maybe they just did that Mingi part because it was problematic or something idk). Something along those lines but obviously i dont know that to be a fact, just assumptions. Because as you said, these aren't studio quality vocals, you hear the breath, they're stable but there's that telling slight shakiness that comes with live vocals. You can tell they were still dancing and being physically active when they sung the take they used for audio.

The workload can be so crazy it sounds like!!!! Makes my schedule feel like child's play haha! The stability is NO JOKE though regardless because it's consistent across the lives they do!

There's lots of splicing that goes on in K-Pop performances where they will record vocals (including breath sounds to make it blend in) separately from the performance and then lip sync over it. Unfortunately, this is a very wide-spread problem that is more prevalent in 4th gen on. ATEEZ does not do this often, however they do it from time to time as well. I was almost suspicious of the second performance as well, as Jongho seemed to be hitting the notes almost too easily, but he's skilled enough to pull it off so maybe not. Also, the fact that it's a performance clip taken from a concert DVD might make the audio clearer than it would be in a music show.

Very true!!! I know it's something that is almost like "cheating the system" and it's not the best in terms of authenticity, but I do like the fact we get to hear "live" vocals in some capacity!
