It's strange the English subtitle at 58:14 says "Based on overall growth", but what Simon said in Japanese and the Korean subtitles say "In terms of overall completeness," which makes sense when he chose Jurim's team. Also I've never watched this so I'm watching it with you, I've only listened to XG in passing and like their songs, but it's so interesting to me how basically all of this (so far) has just about their dancing training/skills (obviously with their mindset, determination etc linked to it), it really goes to show how dancing/performance is basically everything nowadays for idols and vocals are sort of an after-thought. I guess you can always fix/touch up vocals through software and don't ever really need to showcase live vocals, and tiktok dancing is so huge nowdays so it makes sense.

The moment when Simon went back in to reframe the question that he asked was another one of the moments in this series where my respect for him went way up. I had the same thought that when watching - they'd probably pushed it too far and lost the sense of teamwork and of everyone wanting everyone else to grow. And he went back in and addressed it. And the fact that they showed us all of that is one of the things that makes this documentary really special. Watching the team dance at the end with you pointing things out, helped me to see a lot more about the differences between how they each executed. I had always felt a bit bad that the only comment about why Kamiya's team lost was Hikaru's spacing, but you noted a lot of other things that showed the difference between the teams and why Jurin's team won. I never noticed Jurin's shirt before! Japan does have a tendency of liking English words or phrases as design elements (the way in the US we do with Japanese/Chinese characters) and people wearing them often only seem to know that they seem cool or edgy. I doubt Jurin knew what that shirt meant. Actually, I just went back to try to take another look and the word under that is "skateboarding" (apparently it's an LA-based street wear thing) - I'm guessing she probably recognized and gravitated to the skateboard aspect.

Thanks! That translation makes a lot more sense in explaining the difference between groups.

That's what others were mentioning regarding her shirt! Totally understand now haha! And I'm glad I was able to be helpful with the section of the video that felt like the reasoning for choosing one group over the other wasn't as good of a reasoning! Excited for the upcoming episodes!
