SDC6 EP 6 PART 2

Waackers getting robbed, what else is new LOL. Waacking is by far my favorite street style, and I came into this episode with very high expectations for Ibuki and her "little kids." They didn't quite meet those expectations. I thought that the intro part was way too long, their transitions were predictable and bland, and the music choice was weird to me. Maybe it's just my ears, but in the high BPM part, I felt there was just too much going on in the music that I could barely pick up on anything. One thing I've been repeatedly told by waackers is that one of the most important things about waacking is to be able to make your audience see the music, and I didn't see the music in that part. So to me that was a shame, but damn, 20 points below Candyman? I thought it would be close between these two, and that the winner would win by maybe 2 or 3 points. I expected the audience score to be low for the waackers - it always is - but I really was hoping the judges would make up for it, especially since not one but two of the judges actually use waacking in their choreos. Not sure how connected to the waacking culture they are or if they just use the moves. You mentioned towards the end about how many battles there are - yes, SDC is primarily focused on battling. In previous seasons, the format for the shows with audience has always been Part 1: present your choreos, Part 2: do some battles, Part 3: teams with lowest scores can now battle it out to save people. From what I understood from the teasers, Part 3 might be gone now, which is a shame. Those 7 to smokes were the best part of the show.

I agree the waacking fell short in other categories and shouldn’t have gotten first but LAST… like, one of the lowest scoring routines is wild to me. When you eliminate the towel score, they scored LOWER, and I mean LOWER than Jay Parks round 3 performance… that sent me over the edge 😂

It was really great hearing some of your experiences on how these performances would be judged realistically. Ironically the only judge that gave lower scores isn't known for being a choreographer. I find it hard to take their comments seriously, but who knows it could just be how the editing team pieced their convos together. If their scores had been more strict/fair, the + audience votes format could've been an interesting twist. Another thing was that the lighting was REALLY bad at times, maybe certain things were easy to see on screen but impossible to pick up live. This episode was a bit disappointing, maybe there wasn't much time to prepare and that's why they didn't give as much weight to cleanliness. The lack of choreographers left in the show really took a toll. My favorite piece this week was probably the Kite/Madoka/Dedson one. That, Ibuki's group, and Fishball's group were the ones that felt like people got to play to their strengths and weren't held back by doing what they're not used to 😂

Completely agree with you here! My heart barely survived this episode NGL. I'm excited to see the battles next week!

inconsistent enjoyer

overall i think the waacking performance if i have to see it on its own its not as crazy as i would have liked (even though it started great it did not fully deliver) but in comparison to the majority it was top , shame it was against the f4 but 3rd???? like less than some kinda bad ones.. . But i love that it came to happen: for more to come! also you could tell the ibuki-ness of the choreo and her style is not personally my fave, but its still more favoured than lets say AC style its like f4>waack=dilfs *wall* salah/zyko *great wall of china* everyone else also the styling was awful in general, like they styled it themselves, this is a tv show where are the stylists! clothing is something i also take in account in performances and its indeed afecting my perspective of the completeness of the piece

You are not wrong!!! Totally wished for better overall with quite a few of these routines sadly…
