First of all: GIRL YOUR TATS LOOK SO COOL. Ahem, back to the topic: Ugh, I love love love the music and the lyrics of VILLAIN DIES and I really find this dance so lacklustre in comparison so I agree fully with you. 😭 It's not that it doesn't have beautiful moments and movements because it does (I love the intro and the outro so much for example), but the whole really doesn't come together and adds nothing to the song imo. This is going to be a really weird reference to make but how I feel about performances with dance is perfectly illustrated in the Book of Songs (or Classic of Poetry, basically the Ancient Chinese collection of odes from 11th-17th century BC) with this passage: "When emotion stirs within, they take form in words. But if words are inadequate, then one expresses them in sighs. If sighs are inadequate, then one expresses them in singing. If singing is inadequate, then one quite unconsciously moves the hands in dance and stamps the feet in rhythm." I don't remember the exact wording but I believe a similar sentiment is expressed for *when* musicals should go from talking to singing to dancing - basically, when more emotion needs to be expressed, you go to the next stage. I don't just want dance tacked onto a song, I want the dance to express something on top of it and take the experience of listening to the song to a different level. Watching VILLAIN DIES danced, imo, adds nothing that I don't already get from just closing my eyes to listen to it. Now I lowkey want you to choreograph to this just to have the alternative hopefully. 😂 (BTW, I really recommend checking the lyrics out in your own time. They're so chillingly good. Also, poor Shuhua was really giving everything in this performance and her outfit was just like NOPE!! NOT ON MY WATCH!! 😭)

Oh to add, I actually forgot to mention a good alternative to what I said about VILLAIN DIES: There is a live performance of it at the Golden Disc Awards at Bangkok that had a whole new intro for it and that was a great example of how this additional layer really elevating the rest of the performance. The Thai spoken intro in it is so chilling and really recontextualizes the song so the performance of the song itself is heightened imo.
