Thought you guys might be interested in seeing what a baby page looks like. This is basically as nice of a rough draft as I do before setting into actually doing the lines. I try to get a lot of the basic layout/expression down, as well as the basic shapes, to make it much easier to draw later on. Doing it this way (still pretty rough) helps me set up the composition for each panel and also the entire page without having to go back and re-draw already nicely drawn stuff.

Sometimes pages will get super duper rough and there will only be a bunch of circles, etc where faces and people will be. You'll notice a bit of that has crept through here, especially in Jagganoth's amazing face in the bottom panel there.

Do you do layers of refinement or just start drawing in "ink"? My problem is it takes me like 3-4 refinement layers before I feel good enough to ink.

I do a quick rough layer to get the layout down, and then sometimes a more refined rough layer if a page is being a pain to draw (I posted it for this page actually I think, or one earlier). Then I'll 'ink' over the top of that. Sometimes I'll just draw directly over my roughs, which is why I think my lines can sometimes be a little rough or unsteady.
