Heya everybody, Scriptor here with the latest news bulletin! ^^

Game development

The past two days I’ve been busy making all the branch images for the con path of the assembly line fail-state. Progress on these has been good; most of the work in these was adjusting the poses/props to reflect the “end product” Kathleen becomes when she’s more willing. So although the scene-making was quick this time around rendering the images still took ~20 minutes each… and with ~80 images it meant that my computer was making over-time throughout the past two nights. 😅


Still the end result is well worth it i.m.o.; the two paths inside the bad end combining at a total ~210 images now (and that's still without the "epilogue" scene for the con path). ^^


Currently I’m building the “epilogue” scenes for the con-path which take place in a nice up-scale apartment, where a particularly wealthy lady lives with a quite an interesting “secret” room… I’ll be sure to show it off in the next dev update (come Sunday)! >;3

I’m aiming on finishing the last few renders of the assembly line fail-state itself around Friday so I can start next week on modeling/rendering the various traps/enemies featured inside the factory itself. ^^


Oh and I’ve finally made the “donation” only Tier (IV) mentioned in the general survey back in February (it was about time xd). For now it’s solely meant as a donation-type of Tier without any applicable rewards (yet), besides my undying gratitude! (So it’s mainly intended for those who want to show me some extra love/support.) ;3

Try not to get lost in the weeds of the game. Remember how in Lost Sands you built the world first and included quick placeholders for some elements (like serving the Queen), so you could flesh them out more after you'd built all the essentials. Just mentioning this since 210 images for a single ending (and only one path of it, at that) seems like a lot, and I wouldn't want you to forget about the bigger picture of the overall story and creating fun gameplay, etc. :)

Heya! That's fair; this fail-state is a big one image wise and by no means will I make every bad end in No escape as big, but the premise is something I really enjoy hence why I'm a bit all out on it. ;') Besides that the encounters within the factory itself (leading up to the boss) will all send the player to the assembly line fail-state (if they fail enough), so I think the size of the bad end is also sorta justified in that way. Doesn't take away your point is absolutely valid tho; so I'll be sure to keep it in mind! ;3

the longer a scene, the longer you have fun with it, i know enough devs who work on an update for weeks or months, and in the end it's just enough content for 10 minutes!:/

Very true ichbendunicht, although I agree with Dollmistress that I shouldn't get too bogged down on a single game over. After all there are plenty more fun scenario's/perils to see and only so much time to make them. ;3 ^^

ichbendunicht - Ugh, I know what that's like. You spend a week creating something only to realise it takes the player 30 seconds to pass through the resulting content. This is what made me much more sympathetic to big video game dev studios creating grindy gameplay loops, slowing down player rewards, or adding multiplayer modes to their products.
