みこやんは一式戦闘機「隼」と九七式重爆撃機を解説しています。

Mikoyan explains the Type 1 fighter "Hayabusa(Falcon)" and the Type 97 heavy bomber.

海軍機はゲームやアニメでご存知の方も多いと思いますが、陸軍機は案外知られてないかもしれません。(アニメ『荒野のコトブキ飛行隊』では主人公機がこの隼ですけども)

Many people know about Navy aircraft in games and animation, but Army aircraft may not be known unexpectedly. (In the anime "The Magnificent Kotobuki Squadron", the fighter on which the main character is boarding is Hayabusa.)

▲ほぼ同時期に作られた海軍の九六式陸攻と陸軍の九七式重爆です。

The Navy's Type 96 land attack and the Army's Type 97 heavy bomber were made at about the same time.

どちらも似た大きさの爆撃機(攻撃機)ですが、陸軍と海軍では求めた性能要求は異なったものでした。

その違いを考えながら本誌を読まれると、より楽しめるかもしれません。

Both are bombers (attack aircraft) of similar size, but the army and navy required different performance requirements.

そして第２特集ではソ連海軍大型艦(擬人化)特集です。

And the second special feature is the Soviet Navy large ship (personification) special feature.

みこやんはタイフーン型で知られる９４１型重原子力戦略潜水艦を担当しました。

水中排水量が４８０００トンにもなる巨大な潜水艦です。

Mikoyan was in charge of the Type 941 Heavy Nuclear Strategic Submarine known as the Typhoon type.

It is a huge submarine with a displacement of 48,000 tons.

映画『レッド・オクトーバーを追え』でご存じの方も多いかもしれません。映画の中のセリフでも「WW2の米空母よりも大きい」という解説がありますが、これはおそらく護衛空母と比較したものだと思います。

Many of you may be familiar with the movie "The Hunt for Red October". There is a comment in the movie that it is "larger than the US aircraft carrier of WW2", but I think this is probably a comparison with the escort carrier.

小説の『レッド・オクトーバーを追え』は中学生の時に国語の先生から勧めてもらって読みました。「ソ連にはこんな大きな潜水艦があるのか」と驚くとともに夢中で読みました。

When I was in junior high school, I read the novel "The Hunt for Red October" recommended by a Japanese language teacher. I was surprised and enthusiastically read, "Is there such a big submarine in the Soviet Union?"

また、今号では緊急特集としてロシアのウクライナ侵攻が取り上げられています。

ウクライナ侵攻についてネット上では非常に多くの情報が流れており(双方の情報戦が展開されているから、という側面があります)全体像が分かりづらい方もおられるかもしれません。緊急特集では侵攻の背景や本誌校正段階での戦況と両軍の装備について簡潔に解説されていますので理解のきっかけに良いのではないでしょうか。

There is a great deal of information on the internet about the invasion of Ukraine (because both information warfare is taking place), and it may be difficult for some people to understand the whole picture. The urgent special feature briefly explains the background of the invasion, the battle situation at the proofreading stage of this magazine, and the equipment of both armies, so it may be a good opportunity to understand.
