This issue is the 15th anniversary of the first issue!

今回の特集は「世界の最新主力戦車」です。

みこやんは日本の10式戦車と米国のM1戦車の解説を担当しました。

This year's feature is "The World's Newest Main Battle Tanks.

Mikoyan is in charge of the commentary on the Japanese Type 10 tanks and the US M1 tanks.

M1戦車は東西冷戦の最中に登場してから様々なアップデートを重ね、今も米陸軍の主力戦車の座に君臨する戦車です。

The M1 tank was introduced in the middle of the Cold War and has undergone various updates since then, and still reigns as the main tank of the US Army.

そして90式戦車の後継として生み出された陸上自衛隊の最新主力戦車、10式戦車です。

And then there is the Type 10 tank, the latest mainstay of the Ground Self-Defense Force, which was created as the successor to the Type 90 tank.

先代の90式戦車よりも軽量化が図られつつC4I能力や新たな主砲や装甲が装備され強化されています。

The Type 10 tank is lighter than its predecessor, the Type 90 tank, but has been strengthened with C4I capability and new main gun and armor.

先日の東京出張で陸上自衛隊の広報センターで10式戦車を取材したことをお話しましたが、じつは展示車両は試作型なので配備されている10式戦車と少し異なります。

On my recent trip to Tokyo, I told you about my visit to the JGSDF Public Relations Center to see the Type 10 tank, but the vehicle on display was a prototype, so it was slightly different from the deployed Type 10 tank.

本誌と見比べて試作車との相違点を発見するのも楽しいかも知れませんね！
