I first met Mema in January of 2015 at Follow the White Rabbit, an art exhibition, inspired by Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. I was there shooting and she mentioned she was looking for someone to do promo photos for her upcoming Fringe show. Back then it was Bazinga that just incorporated pop culture references into a Burlesque show. So in February we did a shoot at my old Studio.

By the end of the year the idea had evolved into Immoral Kombat - an audience judged burlesque strip-off contest that ends with a champion crowned. So in August 2015 we did our first Immoral Kombat promo shoot.

I also came up with the fight cards which became a more prominent part of the show over the years. As the pairings are announced and progress the 'combatants' are displayed on big screens. The Fight logo cheekily comes from Street Fighter.

Here's one of the original Fights cards from 2015 for Aquila Star.

We keep adding and changing the cards every year as new performers and characters joined the show. This is one of my favs from Feb 2020 of Vendetta, you can see a post from last year about there show here.

It means we have a growing library of images and below is a banner from 2020's show using images from the original 2015 shoot.

Last year we had to shoot outside and the sun played havoc with the easly shots until the sun went down. This year we booked an indoor space.

We like to get dynamic poses so the images aren't too static, these are Fighters after all. With Kats we got a hair flick and I added some smoke which is the name and trait of this character.

For Fable Fireside's Sindel who likes to scream we did some yelling shots. I added the ripple distortion effect to really emphasize this, even extending the effect to the fight logo.

My fav to shoot on the day was definitely Vauxx!

We had finished shooting and where wrapping up with a social media promo shot featuring Mema as a Covid marshal being attacked by Sakia's Covid virus and they asked Vauxx who had gone off to get changed to come back and be in the shot.

There was a wooden bench to the side and I'm glad they asked Vauxx to stay because there was one last shot I wanted to try.

I would have liked the light straight down but without a boom stand this was the best I was going to get. Below is the the out of camera shot and the scene as it looked on set.

Here's the final concept where I placed the glowing Immoral Kombat logo as the light source.
