On Saturday morning before the con in Perth we traveled 20 minutes down the coast to the  Aquarium of Western Australia (AQWA)  home of the replica Dutch sailing ship Duyfken for a shoot with last years Best in Show comp winner Jack Friday. We only had a brief time on board before the venue open to the public and the first tour was due.

Of course the first thing that happened was the main light I had brought failed. Luckily I had brought a smaller speedlite to use as a hairlight so this became our only working flash although messing around trying to get the other light working cost use valuable time.

The next challenge was getting me onto the ship. I had to hand off my walking frame and try and get across a narrow gangway with a railing of loose rope. No falling into the water or anything but location shoots which used to be easy have become logistical feasts.

Anyway is is one of the last frames we took, still might work on a couple of things like the sea spray and the bend on the tip of the rubber sword but other than that am really happy with the light in the shot.
