This is an experiment I did a while back where I took a massively underexposed image of a dog I took at the RSPCA and process it from RAW to see if I could recover it. 

I then saved the original underexposed version out as a JPG and tried to fix it and it definitely highlights how much scope to correct things you have with RAW.

The corrected RAW version is usable where if I had my camera set to JPG the image would be a write-off.
