Taken during the 6 months I had a permanent studio space, still personally considered as my most creative period.

Allana is a real horror fan so we just wanted to do a simple shoot where we could play around with fake blood. The concept was the build up the makeup (amount of blood) over takes starting with simple bite marks and ending with blood over everything.

Makeup Artist Ella Renfrey had helped me a couple of months earlier on the Day of the Dead shoot and came in to help me.

I had gathered a couple of recipes and decided to use The Hammer House of Horror one I found in a tutorial by Mark Gatiss. I'm not entirely sure what went wrong but after following the recipe to the litter I ended up with a bowl of black ink. We were left with very little ingredients but luckily had enough to cobble something together on the fly which was just enough to use. In the image below you can see both the bowl of blackness and the ramekin of blood.  

I had bought a large black painters drop-sheet to make sure the floor was protected. 

I really like the blood we got in the end, I think it photographed well. Allana and I are planning another horror shoot with blood in a couple of months. The black ink didn't go completely to waste you can see it running down from her eyes in the final image.
