Hello everyone, finally v011 is here! Apologies for the extra delay, been getting aprox. 20 frames a second so I had to do some additional optimizing. Now getting 50-60 fps on my now dated rig: i7 4790K + GTX1060

My fastest time traveling from starting point to the big city was about 45 minutes - and yes, finally, the game's world is vast enough for captivating car chases and for the story to unfold properly.

In this build, all lights are on, except for the refinery region. There, you can follow the blueish light which will lead you to an illuminated area. Just ram the fusebox at the end of the road and that will activate the refinery lights, including the orange lit clouds over streetlamp hill.

There are no enemies and no "death" in this build (although there are 4 mine trucks roaming around) - as it's more intended for exploring the map and testing the new car physics. Those are now more slidey (and a proper simulation of wet surfaces) but at the same time, the player car was made more controllable.

Pressing "p" in-game will bring you to the pause menu, where you can choose your input device, by clicking at the steering wheel icon in the upper left corner. For testing purposes, I've bought a T300RS steering wheel. Please do let me know if your device is working properly.

********************************************!!!

In the VR version, pressing "r" re-centers the camera. I also added a "VR Scale %" slider in the pause menu. 70 will give better performance while 100 higher resolution.

Added a new VR version called v011_VR_d - possibly it could fix the camera re-center issue with SteamVR.

Changed the key for re-center to the good old "r",

There is also a new option in the pause menu where you can enable/disable VR Screen Space Reflections. Default state is now disabled. This should give a good performance boost. Although I managed to modify the code so that reflections will work in VR, it does not play well with z-axis head tilt. This will need to be solved by a professional shader coder as I don't think I can solve it myself and already lost ample time trying.

********************************************!!!

Feel free to play around with the steer assist values. For keyboard, I'd recommend 0.9 and 0.5 - 0.6 when using a steering wheel.

Looking forward to reading your thoughts, O)

Is there a place where I can set the resolution manually? I run in 3440x1440 ultrawide, and when I load the game and hit Alt-Enter to fullscreen it, the sides are black bars (it's 16:9 forced it seems). I don't see anywhere in a menu to change it, I assume maybe there's a file I can edit the values in? Thanks!

I have the same resolution, but I think I'm OK because previous versions of Beware had a launcher that allowed you to set the resolution, and I think those settings carry over to newer versions of Beware. So maybe try downloading a previous version of the game that has the launcher, set your resolution there, and try v11 again.

I'll have to dig deeper into this subject... In Unity, I have "Supported Aspect Ratios" set to "4:3, 5:4. 16:10, 16:9" and "Others" so it should not be locked to 16:9,,, Are you able cover your ultrawide aspect ratio in windowed mode?

I don't see anywhere in the build that allows me to choose the resolution. It launches in a small window and if I hit the maximize icon it does fill the entire screen in windowed mode without the black bars. As soon as I hit alt enter though it goes to the locked 16x9 with the black bars on the left and right.

Yeah Unity ditched the old configuration window where you could choose resolution, input and other settings before launch. For v011, I switched from Unity 5.5 to Unity 2019.4 so many things behave differently. I'll put this issue high up there in priorities :)

How is it on a PS4 controller, asking for a friend if anyone has tried

With this new update I'm not able to look around anymore with the mouse cursor, only by driving around with the keyboard. Is this intended or a bug?

ondrejsvadlena

It is intended, for now, because newer Unity version used now does not support Jscript anymore and the mouse look script is written in Jscript. It will be back in a future release, I just have to re-write the code in C#

Are there any checkpoints/save points? I want to know how much time I have to set aside to play v011. Just in case I always have to restart after shutting down.

ondrejsvadlena

No checkpoints yet. Going full speed, it took me 45 minutes from start to finish (big city crowd).

Ok thanks, got stuck in the mine had to restart, but pretty quick when you remember the way.

so just from exploring the area i couldnt get my logictech g920 working with my fanatec club sport pedals and a thrustmaster gear shifter but so far im just happy that i can play the game with a ps4 controller and explore the maps

I found a bug https://ctrlv.cz/ZdDM https://ctrlv.cz/VfQS

Thanks, it will be fixed soon. That's the old road layout where I forgot to remove the signs and add a new guardrail.

The VPP dev is working on a new input system but first, have you tried the VPP demo and whether it works there: https://vehiclephysics.com/about/demos/

Tried it with my Fanatec GT DD Pro with clubsport v3 pedals and with the wheel device set to 1 and mapping to one of the logitech options I was able to steer, accelerate, and brake. The clusport shifter also seemed to work when manual transmission was on, though with no in game indicator I can't be sure the gears were all correct.

For the next version would it be possible to include in-game settings to adjust the resolution? I was able to run the game at 4k 60 no problem but my 3080ti was drawing around 350-400 watts which is pretty intense, so having the option for lower resolutions like 1440p would be amazing. Haven't been able to test VR or my wheel with it yet but am looking forward to it! Thanks for the update.
