Dragon Bulge (Patreon)

Big bulgy purple dragon.

This is another failed attempt at me trying to do a "quick sketch". I get so hung up on a picture, that I rush through the workflow, telling myself "Well I'm already doing the lineart, I might as well color it - it's not gonna take long!" and so pictures escalate and I need to force myself not to go too far. That's the reason why I don't offer sketch commissions - I wouldn't be able to keep them at a sketch stage, even if I wanted to. :P

Anyway, this is a depiction of one of my purple dragon character Benjamin Kona. He has only appeared twice in my gallery so far and I thought I would give him another whirl after chatting with my good friend Akuro about him a few days ago.

I always imagined Benjamin to be a very stoic and anti-social character that had to suffer a lot of ridicule as a child because of the color of his scales. So growing up he started working out excessively so that nobody would dare to make fun of him anymore. Now that he's grown up, things have calmed down mostly, but of course the stares he gets now are for a different reason than his color. :P
