The coloration process of this illustration has been pretty wild, there's not much I can explain because I just went with the flow. I didn't create the usual layers for shadows/highlights/etc but colored and rendered everything on the same layer and hoped it wouldn't look shit at the end 🙈 I'm extremely happy it didn't because this technique has been the most free and liberating I've ever tried! Idk if it makes sense but the way I see it is: my usual process* is super useful (not gonna drop it) but sometimes it feels a bit "mechanical" while this one is 100% art haha

There's something else relevant about this artwork though: since getting the new PC I've been able to play with so many effects and textured brushes!! In this illustration I've mixed a ton that I had already tried one-by-one in previous works and I loved the result! I'll be putting together a tutorial to show you all the little tricks I've applied here: chromatic aberration, gaussian noise, posterization, bitmap halftones, etc... - I feel like they can be super useful to step up a drawing when you think it's "complete" but you want to add a little "something" more haha ✨
