This piece was full of experimentalism and I've learned a lot! 

The main difference from my usual process is that I haven't used Multiply as blending mode for the shadows layers but Linear Burn instead. I noticed that Linear Burn keeps the colors saturation high and created higher contrast with the base colors than Multiply does. Both blending modes are useful, but with this comparison in mind I can now manage colors better! 

Another fun experiment I've tried is on the light rays emitted by the gems on Dottore's chest. The process is too long and complex to be summarized here, but here's the TUTORIAL (I've followed these chapters: "3. How to make beams" and "5. How to add stray pixels") I've read to achieve that result.
The process is super interesting and open to different possibilities, I'd love to try variants of it on other pieces!!
