Story Idea for 2020: Canvas' Mission (A Brushed Away Sequel/Spinoff) [Slice of Life] (Patreon)

Hey there, guys! Last month, I ended up posting a possible story idea for this year that I had open to all Patrons. And since I'm not one to leave my $1 Patrons hanging, I might as well do another post for this month!

For those of you who follow my FimFiction account, you would know that I recently got some fanart of my OC Canvas from Brushed Awayby Mix-Up (link to his DA here: https://www.deviantart.com/amalgamzaku). Ever since the series finale aired back in October, I spent a lot of time thinking about how Troy & Canvas would look in that future timeline shown in the final episode. And while I can't imagine Troy looking much different (aside from maybe some reading glasses and a more mature fashion sense), I actually envisioned the idea of Canvas having full-bodied tattoo sleeves up both forelegs by that point in the MLP timeline. And with that, a story came to mind that I think could be a wonderful addition to the Brushed Away universe:

Basically, the story would start shortly after the events of episodes 24 and 25 in season 9. Twilight had just finished her coronation as Ruler of Equestria, and Canvas is back in Ponyville to continue his art work. However, due to how much everything had been changing throughout Equestria, Canvas is a little unsure of what to do with his life while conversing with Missus Cake and Sugar Belle; however, it's during their conversation that Canvas realizes his cutie mark is glowing, and he realizes he's being summoned by the Cutie Map.
Canvas and Troy (who wasn't summoned) head to Canterlot Castle, and discover that Canvas was destined to solve a friendship problem in Baltimare. Despite Troy's protests, Canvas insists on going himself since nopony else had outside assistance during a summoning; plus, Troy has play recitals back in Manehattan. So by the time he reaches Baltimare, Canvas is completely alone and unsure where to go. Fortunately for the stallion, he just so happened to arrive in the city while a Tattooing Convention is being held over the weekend.
Canvas goes to the convention on a whim, and happens to come across a fellow artist who he had met before: Flamingo Fire from the first Brushed Away (one of the other artists during the Canterlot show).  With Flamingo's help, and Canvas' curiosity about such a unique art medium, the two end up working together to try and figure out how to solve his friendship problem. And with that, Canvas might end up learning more about himself as well~

I actually had a lot thought out about this story, and I could see it being a fairly short one compared to my other works. I'm not sure when I'll be able to write this, but it's definitely something I've been wanting to do for a while recently. After spending months binging on Ink Master (not to mention my personal experiences getting tattooed), I really feel like tattooing is something that's underutilized in fiction. Not to mention, since I've been working on a personal project that involves revising my Brushed Away series for printed publication (with a Ko-Fi link to help fund the project), I feel like doing a sequel/update like this would be a good thing for myself and my fans.

Anyway, with all that being said, I hope you all are excited for what's gonna come in February.
