RJ if you want to fish in the ocean but feel safer fish in Southeast Alaska because we are surrounded by islands the water doesn't get as rough. (THIS IS AN AD FOR ALAKSA TOURISM... jk). :). Also this is just cause I have been fishing since I was very young and Halibut and Salmon can get big here I always think its cute when i see people get a fish in the lower 48 and say "i got a big one" and it's barely the lenth of their forearm. This is the most pretentious I will ever get I'm sorry haha. Also I was told when I was younger that I had to bite the head of a hooligans head off or I wasn't a real Alaskan. I never did it but my sibling and cousin did. It was the ones we used for bait so it seemed kinda extra gross.
