And here it is, guys, the winner of the July exclusive sketch vote! To be honest, there wasn't really any competition this time, because this sketch immediately took the lead, and never slowed down :D But you have no idea how happy this winner makes me, because I really can't wait to start working on all these silly poses and faces :D

Because this is a huge picture with a lot of characters and details, it will take two months to finish. That means in August there won't be any sketches, suggestions, or votes because I'll be working on this picture. But in September, everything will be back to normal :)

That's all, thank you to everyone who voted, and you can expect the usual progression stream, pictures, and videos soon :)

I'm not even surprised that this is the winner and I'm glad it is, can't wait to see the final product.

It'll be worth it though. Have fun with this one

Zummy dear. Whenever you do one of these it always gets the lead. Whenever you do a named character it almost always takes the lead over unnamed ones without a story. Very few people would like to see what they know nothing about drawn better and having time poured into. And if you put multiple characters that people know about they will always want to see that. My guess is that if you do something like that with characters nobody knows anything about that would be the only case where this kind of picture *might* not win. To be honest at this point i despair seeing anything but "the known stuff" it's why sequels always cash in money and nobody ever wants to see new stuff being made. 😅

Was there ever any doubt? If there was, let the 2 months of painstaking refinement and joyous final creation... BEGIN!

Look, this is gonna be awesome. I just know it.

Okay, but will you please have Bryta in the picture too? We don't want her to be left out like the last group sketch

We are making comics with stories and characters that require months or even years of work and preparation, and that's why it's great when people choose characters from these stories and not random ones. Actually, I take that as a compliment from them. I draw a lot of returning characters because I genuinely care about them, and not just because no one else will win anyway. Nothing is pressuring me to draw anything. If I have already spent years building stories and worlds around these characters, I want as much content as possible to be made about them, because they have become very dear to me. And I always have some ideas in store for them. The fact that the well-known characters receive the greatest attention seems logical to me. You're not the only one who gets "bored" when I draw well-known characters over and over again, which makes me sad because I literally turned "making people care about these characters and their lives for years" into my full-time job. More than half of my content here is always some kind of "sequel," because I put my heart and soul into these characters, and into their stories. I adore coming up with original designs and characters. I do that all the time. I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy it if my fans occasionally chose my new ideas instead of the already well-known characters. However, I give equal care and attention to all my sketches, whether they include a known character or not, so there is no such thing as a better or worse choice; it's just a matter of your personal taste how you "categorize" my drawings.

We actually got a great suggestion how to squeeze her into the picture :D

Oh, i'm not saying that new and original characters are "necessarily" better. I'm just saying that seeing a "fake choice" is a bit disheartening. Why vote for stuff that i already know is a wasted vote? There is no contest. Group shots beat recurring characters which beat fanart which beats new and never seen characters. I would propose to "remove the fake choice" and do a "turnaround" where once there are only tried and true characters and only very few of them, one or two or 3 at most, once there is only a choice among fantarts and once among only group shots and once there is a choice only among new and non-established characters.

All my sketches have always been of different quality, and some have turned out less great or creative, while others have turned out better. I create art based on my inspiration, ideas, and energy. That's it. Drawing means freedom to me. The current sketch turned out to be the best, which I am very happy about because it got me out of a little artblock. There will always be someone who does not like what I do or how I do things, and that's because not everyone understands what success or freedom means to me. And in art, it's okay. I apologise for not drawing enough high-quality, random characters to provide a more even contest between well-known and random characters. But if I don't have an idea or inspiration for a random character, I won't draw them. (Even if it would mathematically even the odds of winning between the sketches.) On the other hand, I'm happy if people know my older characters better. I'm actually pretty sad that I don't draw enough sketches of known characters, like some you'll see in the Tree of Life comic, because it's the most important comic for me. And eventually, with time and effort, I'll try to increase the popularity of my lesser-known characters.

Yeah. No. I see i have not explained the problem properly. Apologies. Trying to keep explaining this stuff will not work, and you keep getting the wrong message out of it. What you ended up talking about is nowhere near what i was trying to explain. I did not mean to frustrate you or anything. Apologies.
