Hey everyone! :)

So recently both the prologue of Tree of Life, and Perfect Fit has ended. What's next, you could ask. Well, I'm so glad you asked :) (I hope you asked.) Now, let's see how our future projects will go in the very near future:

First of all, Tree of Life. The actual story with Book One will start very soon. Again, I know how weird it was to make a whole prologue book, but I really needed some practice and courage boost before starting my biggest project so far. So yeah, I know it was everything but a good and well made start for a series, but… this will be my biggest project, and one of my childhood dream, so… I want to do everything to make it the best I just can. But the real story will start soon, I promise :D

Now, about the next erotic comic. We already had the next erotic comic written and ready for quite some time now, and we were really excited to start it (because it will be a pretty long sequel, and it will be full of story, characters and surprises), but then we saw one sketch idea among the monthly sketch suggestions, one that really started our imaginations. So we kept thinking and thinking about this idea, and at the end we decided to put another, much shorter comic before the big one, with an idea we couldn't explore until now, because we didn't have a good idea and concept for it. Well, until now, that is :)

So the next erotic comic will be a fairly short and very kinky sequel ;) And after that, a very long one will come (that is also a sequel), full of story and characters. I'm sorry if this all sounds a bit hectic, but we really try our best to not give away anything about our future projects (because we hate spoilers, and love surprises), but believe us, behind the curtains we had a ton of fun coming up with this next, short comic, we worked a lot on it, and we hope you'll like the idea just as much as we do :)

So after all of these very vague info, you could ask “What was the point of this? Where are the comic's starting dates?” Well, there's still something left to mention: I'm going to work in a “new” style, and there will be a very short project to practice and get the hang of it before I start the next erotic comic and the Tree of Life. But why did I write “new” in quotation mark, and what is this short practice project? Let me explain.

When I first started making comics here, on Patreon, I didn't have much time for drawing beside school and work, so I had to complete every page in one day. A few years passed, things changed, and I could finally spend more time on my projects, thanks to your support. I decided to spend two days on every page, and that helped a lot with scheduling and quality. Years passed again, a ton of things changed, and we arrived to today, and I had to realise something: no matter how much I love spending more and more time on pages, making them more and more detailed, I'm just a single human being, and this can't be maintained for long. The pages became so detailed, that coming up with the actual WIP sketch for them became secondary, and I really hate that. I had very little time, and very little stamina remaining to come up with the most important part of the comics, their backbone, the actual layout of the pages. I feel over the past few years (as much as I loved making more and more detailed comics), they got weaker and weaker, because I wasn't putting the effort in the right place. I want to change that, so I started to work on a “new”, much more controlled style. I know this might sound weird, so let me explain:

Looking back at my older projects, there were a few pages that were just attracting my eyes to no end. Those pages were made when I switched from one day/page to two days/page. If you look back at Welcome to New Dawn, around page 55.

https://www.furaffinity.net/view/30731269

You can see the style changed significantly. I could finally switch the very sketchy lines to line art, and I could be a lot more brave with colours, saturation and perspectives. But this wasn't the page that really caught my eyes when I looked around my previous projects. It was Prophecy page 35.

https://www.furaffinity.net/view/30862342

I was looking at that page for a long time, and I just loved it. The colours, the line art, I just love looking at it. And that was when I realised that over the years I started focusing on the wrong parts of the pages. And because I want to make the best comics I can, I had to take a step back, and reevaluate my priorities. So this “new” style is more like going back to an older style, and trying to divide work better, to make better comics.

That old Prophecy style is my goal in the near future. To be more specific: very thick line art, very vibrant colours, very little or no shading at all, and using highlights and filters to give the scenes more feel and emotion. This is a style I'd really like to see and make, and hopefully it will free up a lot of time for things I REALLY want to focus in my future projects: interesting and unique perspectives, poses and panelling. I'm planning to give one day for each page again, but with the years of practice and experience behind my back, they won't look rushed and sketchy. And I want to spend another day working on each page sketch, to make the movement, the poses and the actions engaging and impressive. I think detailed backgrounds and shading I spent so much time on in the past few years are worth less than a well composed page.

So in short: I'm going back to a bit more simple, more stylised art style, so I'll have much more time to make the pages more engaging. I know this might sound a bit weird (or even sad), but I'm planning to prove this won't be a step back, but a step forward. And for this, I'm planning to make a very short, 5 pages long Crossover County comic to finally get the hang of this style I'm trying to get into. I'll start it next week, and after that we'll continue with Tree of Life and the next erotic comic.

Again, I'm sorry if all of this sounds a bit weird, but I felt it's something I just HAD to share with you, because you guys provide our livelihood with your selfless support. I think keeping you up to date, and being completely honest is the bare minimum.

So let me sum it up:

- Tree of Life Book One will start very soon.

- The next erotic comic will be short and very kinky, but the one after that will be long and very story focused.

- Before all of this, I'll make a 5 pages long Crossover County comic with a new/old art style I'm planning to use in the future.

That was really all for now. I'm happy to answer any questions, and if you don't have any, stay tuned for a new Crossover County next week ;)

I use Google Translate and enjoy watching it. No matter what happens, I am just satisfied that you continue to publish. If you are greedy, I would like you to prioritize your health as much as you are active regularly. These days, the virus has become so toxic that I am worried about the people I was supporting suddenly disappearing one by one.

This all sounds very good and if it makes you happier and more satisfied in your work, then I'm 100% in favor!!

Do what makes you feel good. It's the eternal struggle for an artist between creating art that feeds your soul and art that sells to feed yourself. You have a dedicated set of Patrons that wish to support you in all your endeavours, and you keep them engaged by letting them drop questions and suggestions that you - in turn - get to cherry-pick for the ones that appeal to you the most. If now is the time to decide you want to change your creative process, you'll hear no complaints for me if it makes for an artist who is proud of her work and open to her Patrons.

I’ve always read your comics more for the story than the art… Well, I lie, it’s the art and the story. But I’ve been reading since as far back as those examples so I will still love the work.

I want to tell you that, as someone who wants to work on his own comic project and is gathering the courage to do it, congratulations on finishing the prologue for the Tree of Life, and also thank you so much for posting this message and being so open about your technique and process. :) Finding the right balance between quality and efficiency is so important, and it's something I keep thinking about myself: shadows, or no shadows? Should I spend time learning blender for backgrounds? How to ink faster? Etc... If you can produce one page/day with a quality level that you are satisfied with, go for it: one page/day is already extremely fast, I wish I could do that (I'm stuck at a page/4-5 days, maybe in two days at the fastest). We tend to overthink every single line, zoom in to deal with details that annoy us but no one else would notice or even care about, and that ends up wasting so much time in the long run. So I wish you the best with that "new" art style and I’m impatient to see how it will turn out! :)

I love your comics a lot. (I guess I wouldn't be a Patron if I didn't.) Though I think you need to get someone to proof read the scripts, sometimes the English grammar is a bit awkward. I would have volunteered if I didn't want to read the finished comic without getting it spoiled.

ÄlveKatt

Though it might be better to get someone else anyway, my last sentence there got pretty awkward too... I edited it, like, three times. And I am not sure if I am using the correct spelling of "sentence".

I'm guessing spider bondage was the one that inspired the "short, kinky sequel" one :D.

Seems like a good thing to do to me. Comics are extremely intensive as it is, considering you're drawing what is effectively several small pictures to compose one page. If going to a simpler, less detailed style for the comic pages is good, if it helps your workflow, then there's nothing wrong with it! A happy artist is a good one. I do kinda find it funny that you had one comic planned, then abruptly put another comic in front of it, then *another* comic in front of *that*. But actually going to Crossover County outside of ask pages? I'm down!

I'm glad your striving to find a way to improve your art while trying to balance your health. I have seen way too many artist over the years push themselves to the limit to the point that they end up burning themselves out. I would hate to see that happen to you, too. Patreon and other similar services may feel that they need the artist churn out much as much content as possible to satisfy their patrons, but at the cost of the their well being. Definitely take a breather here and there and set up goals that are easily feasible. The charming little worlds you create for your characters are the things I keep coming back for.

We actually have a proof reader, but it's not easy, because the text usually only get's it's final version during the drawing process of each page. Ideas come and go, panels can change on the fly :/ So we usually leave the proof reading to all of you guys, and we are always happy to make any adjustments or fixes to the text :D

zummeng

Nope :) I haven't made any sketches about that suggestion, so it will be a surprise ;)

ÄlveKatt

What is Crossover County?

ÄlveKatt

Maybe you could run pages by the proof reader an extra time once they are made?

It a series of short, silly comics in a modern setting that includes all of our characters :) I make short stories like that time to time :)

Every story needs logical start too) So - the prologue of the Tree of Life was more than perfect start for it) It's full and clear but at the same time leaves behind questions and intrigue. It's like tv series that are filming in the real time and you're looking forward the next season) Everything has its own time to happen. Wonderful to read volumetric and disassembled post and to know such plans and details behind the sceen. It's a pleasure to know this open part of you. Thank you. Through all this time you've got not only the drawing experience but also the ability of analyzing the way you want to use for work, the ways helps you to improve yourself and use your time and stamina visely - it is huge achievement, you know))) And probing different styles looks bold, especially in small projects that we will also(!!!) be able to observe. I mean that it won't be something hidden from us. And after all of that, the most important of all this experience is the vision of what you want to show and what you want to say in your story) Through all this time you slow but surely make beautiful diamond out of a rough material and ready to show it to the world and to see it by yourself. It's your dearest and desired "child", it will definitely grow up beautiful. You will see) We all will see! I want to congratulate you again with one more finished project and one finished step of your dream and to wish you save this vibe. Stay balanced and take care!
