I was doing a sketch for an illustration when I noticed that I've never talked abou this! Also, it's something that nobody ever explained to me but once you know it, it helps a lot (in my opinion). 

It's related to placing the characters in backgrounds. Like the lines of buildings that meet at a point on the horizon, it also happens with bodies. The joints of the characters form lines (one shoulder with the other shoulder, one elbow with the other elbow, etc) and these lines are also heading towards the vanishing point (in blue).

So when you have to make a composition that involves including a character in a background, remember this!
