EN/ Devblog #01: Prologue (Patreon)

New format, the devblog, it will allow us to talk about development-related subjects in a more free/practical way than integrating them in the Weekly News.

Let's start by talking about the Prologue, but first let's see what it's about.

What is the Prologue?

We build the story of Sunrise City in the following way: we have defined a saga, saga that has several phases, phases containing narrative arcs, arcs composed of episodes.

We have 3 sagas in mind, each one chronologically linked in order to write a huge story about Sunrise City and its inhabitants. Each saga will have its own main character, but the idea is to link all this through time, so from one saga to another you will find the characters you know but older.

The first saga is the "Nova's Saga", it is composed of 4 phases: the 3 school years of your character and... the Prologue. It is therefore the starting point of a rather big project and that's why we take the time to build it properly.

As a reminder, although the main story is defined, it is your choices as a Patron that will shape the content of the episodes and the order in which the characters' stories will be created through polls and your feedback.

Changes to the Prologue

So far, you've been able to play 3 episodes representing about 1 hour of play time if you've done everything.

We had already talked about the content of the Prologue in terms of gameplay in Review#1, at that time we thought that the Prologue should have six episodes and an epilogue (mainly to make corrections).

At that time, even though the end of the Prologue was defined, episodes 5 and 6 were still in a draft state.

Lately, while writing these episodes, we saw that it was more interesting to group them into one (episode 5). But although more interesting, this episode would be too heavy to produce and would take far too much time. That's why we decided to pause the main storyline after the release of episode 4, in order to add content in episodes 1, 2 and 3, content that will also be used in episode 5 and thus reduce the duration of its production.

This new content will take the form of updates (v0.4.1, v0.4.2 and v0.4.3, each of which will take approximately 1 month to produce). They are currently being written but we can already tell you what each update will revolve around (knowing that you will decide by voting to choose the order in which you want them to be created):

• Grace and Zoey: Check out the Nighty's intriguing VIP area. Make your first moves in Block A.
• Catie, Lana and Mr. Swan: The clinic opens its doors. Stretch your legs, take a walk in the park. Fancy a snack? Mr. Swan's shop is here.
• Ellen, Otto and the manager of block C: The blocks are in trouble, it's time to help!

So, the Prologue will contain five episodes and an epilogue, this time it shouldn't change.
