Little housekeeping note but patreon just sent out a notice that starting in November, the IOS app will not allow new pledges for first of the month billing, which is what I have my page set to, and will charge a 30% increase to IOS pledges. This means anyone trying to pledge to my patreon SPECIFICALLY FROM THE IOS APP, won't be able to after November.

HOWEVER, this only affects the IOS app version of patreon. the reason is Apple trying to push a 30% in app purchase fee onto the site that only they will collect in exchanger for patreon staying on the Apple app store. This also means all patreon creators that want to get pledges from the IOS app will have to change to subscription billing instead of first of the month billing, as that's the only billing cycle apple's store supports. If you ask me, this is scummy behavior from Apple, but I have no control over this. this means anyone trying to pledge through the IOS app (NOT MY PAGE) could get charged an extra 30%, or I would have to take a 30% cut on my end to cover it. Neither are good options

So here's my plan. I'm not changing from the first of the month billing cycle. It would complicate things too much on my end since I schedule my drawings on a monthly basis for all tiers. This does mean that after November, I won't be able to get pledges from the IOS app anymore. Not sure how many of you were doing that but oh well. Starting now, well in advance of this change, I'm going to discourage anyone who wants to pledge to my patron from using the IOS app to do so. Instead, pledge from a web browser, then you can log into the app and view my page in the IOS app if you wish.

ALSO THIS IS IMPORTANT. This change only affects NEW pledges, not existing ones that will get renewed. So if you're considering pledging and cancelling, which I know some of you do, just be advised NOT to re-pledge from the IOS app in the future as it will be a marked up price.

It's annoying that I have to address this but it's out of my hands what multi billion dollar companies are doing with their digital markets. Fortunately the solution is simple, just ignore the IOS app for new pledges if you got it. Personally it's useful for me to have the app to track certain metrics on my end, but Apple do what Apple do.

Wait so if I’m already a patron, am I good?

So long as you stay pledged it won’t change the amount. This will be a change specifically for NEW pledges made through the IOS app after November. It’s confusing, I know.
