Episode 18: The White Wolf (Patreon)

(Lucas's Room)

May couldn't believe she had forgotten to ask Amelia to show her her powers. To her surprise though, the first thing Amelia did was summon a swarm of creepy crawlies almost turning May's hair white to match hers. though Amelia didn't quite understand May's fear of insects she sent them away and brought in cute fluffy creatures.  

"I feel like a princess~!" May announces with joy, caressing a birds small head. Her hair still messed up from the shock, but cute animal therapy is the cure to almost everything. "You're so cool! I wish I had your powers" May says in tears and Amelia smirks in confidence to the praises with her chin held high, and just like a villain who's plans never fail she pet the squirrel who took Amelia‘s lap for its resting place. 

"Can you show me more of what you can do?" May asks with sparkly eyes.

"Hmm~" Amelia knows how awesome she is and loves to show off, just like when she wanted to grow that tree back when she grabbed the apple from Lucas, though as far as she knows it wasn't successful, so she's not trying that again. (thankfully she backed out on that plan, as Luca's room could not handle it). "Ah!" She turns to face May, and signals for May to hold out her hand. Amelia gently holds and rubs the back of May's arm.

May stares in confusion, but she left Amelia to work her magic

*Zap Zap*

"haha, that tickles"

Amelia uses friction, and her ability to enhance nature, to create electricity. 

"Wow!!"

Amelia pulls and shuffles a strand of electricity and plays with it gracefully. May could see in her eyes how much she's enjoying herself.

'Poor girl, she's been in the woods for who knows how long... and she's barely able to communicate with others. I hope she continues to enjoy herself like this' May extends her hand to pat Amelia's head in order to comfort her, but the gesture, which looms towards Amelia, gave her a fright. 

"AHHHHHHH!!!" Amelia screams at the top of her lungs, the animals disperse out the window and the strand of electricity bursts. Lucky for May the impact only left her with a small burn to the tips of her fingers "Ouch!... Amelia!" Amelia begins to shiver.

"No, don't hurt me" Amelia sobs and May quickly wraps her arms around Amelia to calm her down "It's ok, shhh" she begins to rub Amelia's back "It's ok, no one's gonna hurt you. You're safe here" Amelia recalls the horrific memory her sister scarred her with 'Don't go Amelia, don't leave me here alone. Let's go together, mom will catch up to us' Amelia's tears continue to overflow as she hallucinates the smile Madeline had, over and over again. Her skin begins to feel cold to the touch, May quickly grabs a blanket to cover her with. Amelia is going through a state of panic, May didn't know what to do. Suddenly, Amelia's eyes began to turn white "Amel__!" Amelia begins to lose consciousness, and May's voice disappears into silence. 

Everything is so quiet, it's dark, and gloomy. Amelia opens her eyes slowly. There's snow everywhere. and a white wolf greats her amongst many dead trees

"Mama?!" Amelia smiles and tries to embrace the wolf but the wolf was only an illusion in her head, and vaporizes to her touch. The white wolf begins to walk away, and looks back to Amelia to wait for her "Where we going mama?" Amelia quickly follows. 

The wolf left no trails on the snow and not a single breeze is felt throughout the silent forest. Amelia felt uneasy "Mama..." The wolf came to a complete stop, and in front of it was a giant dead tree with a face. The face of the tree has tears flowing down like a stream of burning lava. 

"Hurt..." Amelia reaches and touches the tree, she felt pain for it, and its loneliness pains her. Amelia looks for the wolf again, but it's nowhere to be seen, suddenly Amelia could feel something grab hold of her hand, the tree begins to engulf her "N__ NO!" She breaks free from its grip and trips on the snow

*Cry*

"No.. I don’t want to go.." Amelia sobs and curl up in a ball. The vines from the tree slowly begins to crawl on her, gently covering her body. Her eyes has no shine, she didn't want to move.

“My little Lavender” A soft familiar voice appears in the darkness. Her hand reach to touch Amelia‘s cheek as she lies in the snow “Mother will be here with you, just sleep” and begins to hum the lullaby, the illusion of her mother’s touch was the tree enveloping Amelia like a cocoon. 

She's tired, she wants to forget everything that has happened to her, so she closes her eyes. What was it that she needed to be awake for? Why can't she just rest?

"Ia" a faint sound appears in the silence "AMELIA!" In a split second Amelia awakes. Lucas has gotten a hold of her, his hands which wraps around her arms shivers desperately.

"Luca!" Amelia jumps to embrace him and knocks him down. 'She's back' Amelia is smiling in his arms rubbing her head on Lucas's chest giggling. Lucas tries to recollect his thoughts

'This is the third time her eyes has shifted... Why does it keep happening...? and it feels like it's only getting worse' regardless of the situation, Amelia looks unfazed, as though nothing had happened to her. The whole room has been turned upside down, and May had no idea what to make of it. But after what he had seen back at the library, he couldn't help but hug her back. 

"Are you ok?" Lucas lifts Amelia's head to get a closer look at her, she has the same smile she always shows him. bright and cheerful. He sighs in relief. Lucas rest his head on Amelia’s shoulder, and clenches to her even tighter. Amelia felt something is amiss and catches on to the sound of his heart, thumping in fear. Amelia lifts Lucas’s head from her shoulder, but it’s still hard to see his face clearly from his long bangs, so she brushes his bangs away from his eyes to take a closer look at him.

"Hurt?" Amelia asks with a pained expression 'Why is she concerned for me, after what had just happened to her? I still have no idea what triggered it, but seeing her like that was very unpleasant' Lucas frowns and holds her hand "What are you?" He asks, but Amelia only expressed confusion

"D-did you not find anything in the book you were looking for?" May interrupts

Lucas looks to Amelia as she still has the worried expression on her "No.. I didn't find anything" He couldn't possibly have Amelia learn of such a thing if he could help it.

"Whatever happened to her didn't feel normal, but with her circumstances, we're not even sure what's normal and what isn't. If you didn't find anything in the library, why not ask Amelia if she knows of a place that might give you some intel?"

Before Lucas had discovered the truth behind the humans and Givers, he wanted Amelia to stay with him, and get to know her better, but he can‘t be selfish, not with her life on the line, and these random episodes that could cause threat to her or her surroundings. ‘If I could find clues that could lead me to other Givers, I would feel reassured knowing she’ll be in good hands. Even though Jace told me to trust him and that he will explain everything, If he's been familiar with the existence of Givers, he could very well have known about Amelia since I brought her here. I don’t know of his intentions, and I can’t sit and watch till something goes wrong. But would a Giver even appear in front of me and risk themselves getting in danger?" Amelia presses the creases in between his brows, she doesn't like when Lucas is frowning or sad 'I have to at least try. For her sake’

"In the woods where I found you, is there some place that might have information about you or other Givers?”

Amelia nods anxiously

“Can you take me there?” Amelia looks away with a gloomy expression “You must really hate that idea, huh?... I’m sorry for asking you to do this, but I promise I’ll be in and out before you know it" Amelia hesitates for a second, but since it’s Lucas who’s asking for the favor, and she gets an excuse to spend time with him, she couldn’t help but nod. Lucas smiles and Amelia smiles back. To comfort her, he reaches to pat her on the head, but something about her caches his attention "Your hair.." The braid May had done to embellish her face drew him in

"Weird?" Amelia touches her hair

"No, it suits you" Lucas smiles and brushes her hair with his fingers

May gasps to Lucas's flirty side.
