au/idea pitch that im sure somebody has done already but im throwing my two cents in anyway:

Victor Frankenstein isn't a pussy bitchboy who runs away from his mistakes, nonono he commits to them, he creates the creature and keeps it and plans to show it to the other scientists and use it for his own success - while preparing and educating it he keeps it as a lab rat/assistant and does cruel experiments and tests on it -

he's still the same sappy college dropout he is from the book, just more erratic and ecstatic and people think he's insane because not only that but everybody believes his mommy dear was crazy too and that she died of madness but Vic is in denial of that or something and believes if he proves his research, people will stop calling him a madman (they don't)

Henry is this romantic poet/writer who is travelling the world in search for inspiration or a muse and, same as in the book, is Victor's only friend and connection to normal society and keeps him alive.
Walton is a sailor/captain person who wants to be a great traveller but he's a bit of a wimp aaaand Elizabeth is Vic's adopted sister who uses her charm to manipulate others and is obsessed with controlling or 'fixing' people soooo she tries to get the creature killed so Victor can stop obsessing over it and his 'little dumb experiments' but she's super sweet on the outside and also, like Henry, keeps Victor from accidentally killing himself in the name of science.

And as Vic goes on with his 'experiment' and meets other scientists (i wanna put Septimus Pretorius in here as well because i fucking LOVE him) he gets attached to the creature and realises that if he gives it to the other scientists, they're gonna tear it into little pieces for analysis and dissection but if he doesn't - his career will fail and he'll be worthless so he goes from mad scientist to sad scientist (which is basically,,,  80% of the book,,,,, sad sad scientist haha)

and the creature is just there like 'i didn't ask for any of this but alrighty'
