It's official. Zangya is one of my favourite characters to draw and is probably one of my personal favourite Dragonball Z characters.

I decided to treat you guys to a little piece that popped into my head- Gohan walking into Zangya's room while she's in the buff. As you can tell, she's got a rather nice tan going, but Gohan is too distracted by her complete nakedness to concetrate on that, hilariously enough.

I'll eventually get to doing another short comic of her and Gohan much, MUCH later. But for now, I'll stick to my current list of projects to complete.

Now, if anyone is wondering why Zangya is one of my favourite characters, hear me out.

Obviously she isn't one of the best characters made for the show. In fact, based on her limited screen time and how poorly Bojack and his crew were set up, presented and used in their standalone movie, she's probably one of the worst DBZ villains ever conceived (right at the bottom with random Red Ribbon Army soldier number #5).  There is no insight given into Bojack and his crew's history, nor is there any backstory given to any of the members of his crew. Who they are, what they are, what their motivations are, and what their group's history is, is completely unknown to us. All we know is that the Kais sealed Bojack and his friends away after they went on a mass genocide across the universe, with Bojack being the main architect of this offence, and were inadvertently set free after Goku stupidly brought a self-destructing Cell to King Kai's planet instead of, I don't know, Mars. Now Bojack wants to restart his genocide and decides to begin his universal massacre on Earth. That's it.

There's also some cheap conceptual similarities between him, King Piccolo and Cell- with the idea of Bojack being "sealed away" being taken straight from King Piccolo's backstory, whereas his power, strength, and the presence of lackeys is taken straight from Cell and the Cell Jrs, leaving Gohan as the sole warrior strong enough to stop them.

What I find quite fascinating is that Bojack and his group had far superior teamwork, or a better sense for tactics, than the Z-fighters. Seriously. Everyone tried going for Bojack instead of running interference on his goons. As a result, each and every one of them was picked off one after the other because all of Bojack's henchmen ganked them, putting Gohan into a tight spot.  I've amended this in my fanfiction of Golden Age by giving the Z-fighters better teamwork, something they've learnt after repeated failures in the past against the Saiyans and Frieza, which was then polished up against the Androids and the Cell Jr.s https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13324438/1/Dragonball-Z-Golden-Age

Now, while I don't find Zangya compelling as a character, I find the potential behind her use and conception as a character fun and interesting. Considering the movie gave us nothing about her, except for the fact she became terrified of Gohan after he swatted away all her teammates in SSJ2 and was mercilessly killed by her boss, showing she has some sort of autonomy and agency as a character with fears and weaknesses, you have plenty of room and leeway to give her character whatever personality, motivations, or backstory you want. I personally like the idea of her being a reluctant ally to Bojack, who was strong-armed into being one of his henchmen and eventually became one of his best. When Gohan gives her an opportunity to change sides, she takes it.

The amount of potential behind this is astronomical. Not only is their the fact that you can add a strong female character into the Z-fighters' ranks of predominantly male fighters, but one who can duke it out with the Super Saiyans of the period. If you're going for the tragic, reluctant villain route with her, you also have a character that can spend the next many arcs redeeming herself for all the wrongs she was forced to commit, chances to open up to the heroes and so much more. If you give her a tomboyish nature, you can also have her bantering with the other male heroes well, perhaps forming a fun friendship with Piccolo, a close friendship with Gohan, and even a rivalry with Android 18 and Vegeta. The possibilities are numerous, especially with a Shonen show lacking a lot of depth of nuance behind its story that relies only on the popularity of its fights and transformation sequences.

Anyway, I'll stop losing my mind now and just allow you guys to enjoy my work as it comes. Peace.
