So, ''sessha'' is one of the Japanese first person pronouns (like ''ore'' or ''boku''). ''Sessha'' was commonly used by samurai, and in fiction also used ninjas and the like. Since Wano is so isolated, there's hardly any devil fruits there outside of Kaido's crew. Very few Wano residents know about devil fruits. Otama for example doesn't know it's a devil fruit power, and that's why Kin'Emon refers to his powers as ninjutsu or sorcery. All of Wano's regions are named after different foods. Bat-Man and a few other characters' tusk-like teeth (the ones that curve out) are most likely inspired by oni and yokai teeth. Just something interesting to mention, I personally like designing oc's so it caught my eye. Franky's.. I mean Franosuke's boss uses the exact same design as a guy on Drum Island, and another character like that lives in East Blue too. The latter fixed the bar door when Higuma broke it, since it was fixed when Higuma left Makino's bar. Urashima (big sumo man) is a yokozuna-rank sumo wrestler, which is the highest rank. The only currently active yokozuna in real life is a Japanese-Mongolian man named Terunofuji Haruo. Urashima's social status is high, because on top of being a high ranking sumo wrestler, he's also a samurai by class. Also, if your bits fall out during a sumo match, it's an automatic loss. Urashima: ''Or I'll lose face'' Me: ''You still got plenty left'' The topknot soooo many characters in Wano have, called a chonmage, was originally used to hold samurai helmets (kabuto) in place, and later became a status symbol. The style of topknot that doesn't have the top of the head shaved is more similar to the stlye sumo wrestlers use, samurai shaved the tops of their heads. ''It's raining men'' should be paying when Urashima is throwing people across Bakura Town. A lot of Kaido's crew, like Holdem, are named after cardgames and such. And Doflamingo was called Joker. At one point, he was intended to be a character in Wano. Some SMILE users have animal ''growths'' on them, with their own personalities, rather than the person having animal features. Since you mentioned haki being more stylised (very controversial subject in my experience), starting from Whole Cake, the characters' haki has been shown in various tints (Luffy and Katakuri had slightly different colours). It's most likely just to make it easier to tell the characters apart, but I find to be a cool touch. The difference is ost noticeable in armament. Wano has a ton of ''lion-'' animals (the maned creatures you might spot) from what I remember. Komachiyo is based on a komainu, which are guardians for temples, and Hawkins' lion-deer(?) seems to be based on a kirin, a Japanese/Asian ''unicorn''/interpretation of a giraffe. This isn't plot relevant, but Tama's hair colour is quite rare in the people of Wano. Might want to keep your eyes peeled. The pose Luffy does before smacking Urashima is common in kabuki plays, as well as the slow way of speaking. You might remember Kumadori from CP9 doing it. And you'll see a few other character do it during Wano. Fun fact: Wano was fist visited before the arc even began, in a non-canon real life event called ''One Piece 20th x Kyoto: Kyoto Straw Hat Travel Journal 〜Another Wano Country〜''. This happened durin October of 2017 and lasted for a couple of weeks. Someone else is welcome to tell about the story if they want. (I write these messages as I watch the video, and post the whole thing once I finish 😅. Done a few in the last handful of videos. IMO it's better than a bazillion short comments.) Didn't intend to make this so long, whoops.
