What I’m understanding about the route is that the log poses all lead to an island at the end. At that island they learn about the road poneglyphs and that there’s actually another island, Raftel, but you need those poneglyphs to get there. That’s why he said Roger had to go back and do it all over again because he needed to find the road poneglyphs. But with the strawhats, they are already finding out about this stuff before getting to that island. So they don’t have to start over like Roger did. Hope that helps make sense 😅

to clarify what inu and neko said. with the log port you can sail to the last island of the grandline. let's give the last island the name x for this example. so you follow the log port and arrive on island x, there you will find out what we found out in today's episode and what robin already found out on skypia. the origin of the stones, who made them, that you need the 4 road porneglyph and that you have to take the contents of the other stones with you to the end. roger only got this information on his trip on island x. means he was basically told to start your journey all over again and come back when you have everything together. so roger had to circumnavigate the grandline twice. we don't have to do it now because we received this information earlier. together with this information that is on the porneglyphs you can put together a text that seems to be important for the one piece and draw a map that shows an island that lies behind the actual route and cannot be reached with the log port
